Pro Wrestling EVE are set to bring back a trio of talent for an upcoming show.
In a new interview set for Fightful Scraps, Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan spoke with Pro Wrestling EVE’s promoter, Dan Read, about the promotion and spoke about their upcoming show in March: Women Behaving Badly.
During the interview, Read revealed that for the show, Miyu Yamashita and former EVE International Champion Yuu will be returning to the promotion for the event on 7th of March during International Women’s Day weekend.
Read also revealed during the interview that Session Moth Martina would be returning for the event.
OTT Loco Rumble Notes
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned the following details about the OTT Loco Rumble.
- Jay suffered a hyperextended knee early on during the Loco Rumble, and continued in the match for another 45+ minutes. One source noted Jay ‘effectively wrestled on one leg’ for the remainder of the match.
- Paddy Morrow and Paul Tracey received heavy praise for their producing of the Loco Rumble, while Sammy D also received praise for his influence on the booking of the match.
- The promotion used a larger ring for the event, moving from a 16 x 16 ring to an 18 x 18 ring. It is believed by those we spoke to that the 18 x 18 ring will be saved for the larger shows.
- The backstage atmosphere was described as “hectic”, with everyone ‘putting a shift in’ while there is said to be a renewed sense of motivation across the roster.
- Several sources were extremely positive about the attendance for the event without a household name on the card and going up against an Ireland vs England rugby game.
- The imports on the show received praise from several of the OTT roster for their professionalism and approachability. They were also said to ‘fit in well’ with the rest of the roster backstage.
- Scotty 2 Hotty’s inclusion on the show was said to be a ‘last minute’ inclusion.
European/ 'Straya/ NXT Notes
- Fightful revealed on February 3rd that RCW would be running their ‘Rapid Fire’ event on February 3rd. Keep up to date with Spanish wrestling news with our Spanish X page.
- Jessica Troy received a torn ligament in her foot in the fight against North Shore Wrestling and Charli Evans at PWA Mounties Madness in December, and we are told there was no discussion of stripping her of the PWA World title despite the injury. Troy is expected to return to the ring in April to face off with Charli Evans.
- We have interviews with Amale, 1 Called Manders and Mike D Vecchio scheduled for this week.
- We are told to expect a combination of established NXT talent, NIL athletes and WWE ID talent on NXT Evolve. One NXT source claimed it will also feature longer matches than NXT Level Up, and is not a direct replacement for the show.
- In asking about Ricky Knight Jr’s comments towards Amira at RevPro over the weekend, we have not heard of any direct heat on RKJ.
- NORTH Wrestling streamed their first event live over the weekend, with a debut on Triller scheduled for March 1st with the NCL Cup.
Dann Read Interview Notes
Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with the promoter of Pro Wrestling Eve, Dann Read for an interview. You can check out the notes from the interview below.
Corey would open the interview by asking about EVE being one of a kind in the west, with Read noting that other than Shimmer, EVE is the only promotion in the west in recent memory that has had the attendance for all women’s shows. Read also commented on other promotions having a single women’s match on their cards, and that for every 3 hours of content, there should be at least an hour devoted to women’s wrestling. Read also discussed the importance of the She-1, and that it is naturally a tribute to the G1 Climax in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
On the Multiverse Rumble concept, Dann explained that it gives talent an opportunity to think outside the box, and has led to several wrestlers developing their characters further thanks to the non-canon element of the match. With regard to the rest of the card to February 7th, Dann discussed Jamie Hayter’s return to the promotion, noting that Jamie has always viewed EVE as her home promotion, revealing that both Alex Windsor and Hayter requested the bout with each other, and both are excited for their match at the event. Read also discussed the International title match between Nina Samuels and Myla Grace, first putting over Nina for how big of a 2024 she’s had, sharing that several names have outright requested to work with Samuels in the past. Dann also heaped praise on Myla Grace for excelling out of a small scene like the Irish wrestling scene.
During the interview, Read also revealed that Myla Grace, Session Moth Martina, Miyu Yamashita and Yuu will all feature on EVE’s March show: Women Behaving Badly. Corey would ask about Debbie Keitel, with Dann also putting over Keitel for her year in Japan, and how successful she will be in the business past her in ring career due to her extensive knowledge and experience.
Corey also asked about Will Ospreay working backstage with the promotion, with Read also praising Ospreay for his ability not only to produce but direct, as well as his openness to give advice to the talent involved. Read pointed out Ospreay’s presence on the autistic spectrum, as he is also on the spectrum, and explained how that leads to Ospreay’s lengthy contributions to the promotion.
