My Computer is Dead
Added 2020-10-18 07:17:59 +0000 UTCYeah. It’s been blue screening on and off for a while. An update seems to have finally killed it. (Deep sigh). I’ll lose my WIPS and a few high/Rez images I didn’t save to my google drive, but otherwise the only loss is all my meticulously organized references. rebuilding that stuff can be fun though. some stuff is gone forever. Such is life. ill get a new computer this week. My sister in in town 😀, so she can drive me if I can to as store. I’ve been trying to get away from my family to get some work done but now, hahaha!
I’m typing this on my phone
You have all been amazing. thank you for all the support you’ve given me. I love this dumb hobby. I may be gone for a little while. I’m not sure if I just want to buy a cheap tower and move my graphics card over, or what. I’m worried about finding my programs again, but it’ll work out. please don’t go anywhere. I’ll be back before Halloween

2020-10-22 16:21:51 +0000 UTCThanks. Yeah I’m keeping the hard drive in case I want to go back and get all my stuff off of it. It’s just stuff though. Hundreds of pictures organized by posture and such
2020-10-18 17:28:10 +0000 UTCI’ll keep the old hard drive around if I really want to recover the hundreds of ‘dwarf’ images I’ve collected.
2020-10-18 17:27:04 +0000 UTCTried, but I can’t even get into safe mode without triggering a restart. I actually kinda knew this was coming, unfortunately. I’m not losing very much, just WIPS. I’m losing a week of work though 😞, while I wait for new parts
2020-10-18 17:26:05 +0000 UTCI’m just ordering the parts that are fried to save money. It’ll still look like Frankenstein, but lol!
2020-10-18 17:24:07 +0000 UTCYeah, odds are pretty good the hard drives are OK, and it's something else that failed.

2020-10-18 15:39:46 +0000 UTCYou can take your old pc, and your new pc to best buy or somewhere like that and tell them that you want to copy the files from your old pc's hard drive to your new pc's hard drive. And they should be able to move everything but your programs. Programs can't be moved over, so you'll have to reinstall them, but you should know the programs you use regularly. Oh and if you have both an SSD drive and a hard drive you need them to move the files from both of them. Then you can go home plug it in and sort through everything and delete or keep what files you want. If you have any art programs with pictures that you were working on, you can just go into the files for that program, and find the one with the all the pictures, and pull that file out, delete the rest of the file, and redownload the program, and put it back in there, and it'll be like nothing happened

2020-10-18 14:17:38 +0000 UTCThere are other means of recovering data. You might not be able to boot into the od or stay booted but you can connect your hard drive to a working computer and pull out any files you need from it.
2020-10-18 14:15:06 +0000 UTCOuch I remember when mine pc died, but it is possible to transfer all of your files from the old one to a new one. I dont know how but a friend who is a computer expert did it for me.

2020-10-18 10:44:23 +0000 UTCJust to bring this up, you can undo a update and it can fix a issue depending on what Blue screen you get. It won't reslove everything. But you might be able to recover and move things google drive
