NJPW approached a number of talent for new deals

Every December and January, a large number of NJPW contracts come due, as the majority are through the end of January each year. This has at times led to some mass exodus departures from the company that put them in the position to create new stars.
Those that we’ve spoken to said that they always feel it’s a concentrated effort on NJPW’s part to approach talent late and just ahead of when they would be free agents. One person familiar with the process believes that New Japan does it when talents are arriving to Japan and preparing for Wrestle Kingdom strategically.
