Details on Hulk Hogan-WWE, reaction to Raw....reaction
Added 2025-01-08 21:17:59 +0000 UTCHulk Hogan's WWE return did not go as planned.
Hogan returned to WWE programming on Monday Night Raw's debut on Netflix, in large part due to WWE's new partnership with Real American Beer. We're told that Hogan had been due to make a number of appearances in the future tied to the partnership, however, this week's went awry.
Hogan was heavily booed, to the point Variety and CNN even picked up coverage of it. Many we talked to in the company weren't happy that was a common talking point emerging from such an important night for WWE. There were specifically a number of people that told us they brought up the possibility that he would get booed.
Hogan's appearance was already limited to a couple of minutes due to his physical condition, which is why he only appeared at the top of the interest. Those we spoke to said that Hogan was "surprised and disappointed" he got booed, but brushed it off backstage. We haven't necessarily heard that he was of the belief it was due to politics, but at the very least there was nobody we spoke to disillusioned enough to think that was the sole reason.
There were a number of people online who suggested he come out as NWO Hogan to lean into it, but one source within WWE said "that certainly wouldn't have been the original plan. We're trying to sell beer, not get a 70 year old over any way we can." That source said that they believed WWE would probably consider the context in which Hogan is used moving forward, and said that many knew the reaction was a possibility.
WWE's on-air partnership with Real American Beer is not expected to end. One person in WWE indicated to Fightful that they had personally mentioned the idea of using a more modern WWE talent or legend to help endorse the product.

Oh he would definitely get boo’d in Kansas and Oklahoma. This might be a red state, but Tulsa would boo him out of the building.

2025-01-09 01:28:10 +0000 UTCEh, MAGA started in 2015 which is definitely more than a few years ago, but the rest of what you said still checks out anyway.

2025-01-09 00:02:05 +0000 UTCThe guy was recorded saying the hard R several times and never apologizing for it. He gets booed at every live event. Contributions to the business aside, I'm not sure why management would think people would forget about that.

2025-01-08 22:59:56 +0000 UTCPeople are trying to make this about politics, and it's not. The Undertaker had trump on his podcast; he didn't get booed. Hogan is a notable piece of shit. He should ALWAYS get booed.

2025-01-08 22:54:59 +0000 UTCAnyone that excuses his behavior because they like this character, is 100% the problem. If it was a Real American Beer decision, hopefully the handler that wanted to see Hogan is kept away from further promotional decisions with the WWE partnership.

2025-01-08 22:40:24 +0000 UTCThis is the whole point of professional wrestling. Can't control the reception. I'll be on that Fuck Hogan pack until the day I die.

2025-01-08 22:27:50 +0000 UTCAnd to think I thought AEW's partnership with Woooo! Energy was an unforced error - that pails in comparison.

2025-01-08 22:20:25 +0000 UTCHogan got booed at Wrestlemania in Tampa a few years ago, before all the crazy MAGA shit. If they thought he was going to get cheered, they are crazy. Nobody wants to see Hogan. His time was up 20 years ago, and his racist shit that came out is totally indefensible. I'm glad he got the reception he did. No excuses for that behavior. Good riddance.

2025-01-08 21:42:23 +0000 UTCThey should not have talent promote the beer, unless they’re a heel already. Just wouldn’t be a good look

2025-01-08 21:40:56 +0000 UTCThe rolled out a Trump loving racist in Los Angeles. That they didn't expect this is... a failure of basic imagination. Like, had they been in Topeka or Oklahoma City or something this wouldn't have happened. For a lot of people who know their audience very very well 95% of the time, they dropped the ball huge on this.
Sean Sarah
2025-01-08 21:34:59 +0000 UTCI'm still seeing people saying "what about the Undertaker, he endorsed Trump too" - notice he wasn't booed, at least not to Hogan's level. It's the racism. I'm certain he'll only be booked in states that voted Republican going forward, he was never going to fare well in LA.

2025-01-08 21:32:46 +0000 UTCHow on earth could you NOT know this was the only possible outcome to his appearance. I'm sure Terry will be appearing on Fox News soon to talk about the woke mob trying to cancel Hulkamania.

2025-01-08 21:26:21 +0000 UTCidk about the last part man, if they use a more modern talent or legend pick wisely. sending out a Babyface or a beloved legend to shill for Hogan isn't going to go down well and that Babyface/legend won't deserve turfed under the bus like that.
