Another AEW wrestler pulled from GCW
Added 2024-12-09 23:49:52 +0000 UTCAnother AEW talent has been removed from upcoming GCW shows.
GCW claimed to Fightful today that Willie Mack has been removed from next weekend's GCW shows. The company is under the impression this still stems from Effy's comments as AEW has no shows scheduled next week.
Willie Mack is under AEW contract.
GCW were also told that AR Fox was told not to appear on camera while visiting GCW this weekend as we.
Update: Numerous in AEW claim Mack wasn't pulled by them, and at least one communicated that to GCW. However, another contact claimed talent relations encouraged Mack to not take the booking.
We've deleted the tweets promoting this story while all sides try to get on the same page with communication.

Agreed to disagree If any Indy talent took a shot at WWE, they would punish them severely. They are the wrestling alpha and will let nothing happen that goes against that. Anything they do with Indy orgs will always be to benefit them. AEW lets folks like Mox work minor shows, WWE will never have Cody doing independent shows. If WWE wanted to have an advantage over AEW with Independents, they could do so tomorrow based on star power. They never will, they are not going to have stars appearing on minor shows, AEW does and will likely continue to do so. But small shows have to show some respect...whether it is WWE or AEW.

2024-12-10 22:36:50 +0000 UTCBefore I say anything, I’m an AEW mark. This won’t hurt GCW, it’s not like people will be returning their tickets or not going because Willie Mack won’t be there. GCW is not responsible for the statements of its employees. AEW isn’t responsible for what their talent says. AEW punishing their own talent over an ego-driven vengeance against words from a indie wrestler who will never be in AEW or WWE is insane. I love Effy, but they’re a nobody in the grand scheme of things. AEW letting WWE capitalize and further their relationship with Indies will only hurt AEW in the long run.

2024-12-10 22:23:08 +0000 UTCWWE stands to gain nothing from working with GCW, other than very minor press.

2024-12-10 21:56:13 +0000 UTCIf GCW wants this to end, simply reach out and apologize. They don't have to grovel, simply say this went wrong and say you want a better working relationship. Effy can say he spoke in the heat of the moment. Nothing I have read suggests Tony is spiteful. Right now, this seems like GCW is trying to cash in on this. If so, it will only hurt them in the long run.

2024-12-10 21:54:23 +0000 UTCAs I understand it, some have a per appearance basis which gives AEW first claim to dates, but nothing more. Outside of that, fighters get a regular paycheck regardless of whether they work or not. Rickie has this sort of deal. I would think, and I am not sure, if AEW could prevent somebody from making an appearance, that they would have to pay those folks. But I am not certain of that.

2024-12-10 20:53:33 +0000 UTCThey have been legit wwe and aew talents have both appeared at gcw shows

2024-12-10 14:31:34 +0000 UTCHonest question. In what world would Cardona sign with a single company? He makes more doing indies than he did in WWE.
Forceofwilliam
2024-12-10 06:06:31 +0000 UTCWith the Rumors of the TV deal happening with ROH, I have this feeling that Cardona is beating Jericho at Final Battle. Which would mean he is signed and under contract.

2024-12-10 06:04:59 +0000 UTCHence why I framed it in the form of a question…

2024-12-10 03:00:31 +0000 UTCThey are completely justified in pulling their talent from GCW.

2024-12-10 02:59:35 +0000 UTCYou don't know what their contract is...

2024-12-10 02:51:28 +0000 UTCIs AEW paying these guys for lost wages?

2024-12-10 02:29:25 +0000 UTCThat's the thing. It's unlikely that he would consider asking that of one of his regular freelancers, because he understands a payday is sacred. It's not just one show or one angle, it's the exposure and eyes that come from that as well.

2024-12-10 01:19:07 +0000 UTCDang, TK is a thin skinned petty little bitch ain't he? Maybe not Vince level of petty, but dang.

2024-12-10 01:09:44 +0000 UTCWWE should take advantage and start working with GCW.

2024-12-10 00:52:22 +0000 UTCI can’t wait until SRS gives us more updates. I can understand TK being pissed at what Effy said but this seems a bit like collated damage

2024-12-10 00:48:47 +0000 UTCThe ROH and World’s end scrums are going to be trash fires. I hope TK cancels them. Just to save me from TK’s 15 minute filibuster when he doesn’t answer the two questions is 100% going to get. I can only listen to how great he thinks Sting’s final match was. When he deliberately avoids topics

2024-12-10 00:47:25 +0000 UTCEFFY is not in charge either and GCW gets punished everytime he speaks
david gardner
2024-12-10 00:28:17 +0000 UTCBecause he's not in charge

2024-12-10 00:26:02 +0000 UTCIf the PPV was included I would of been long gone. I wish they cared about the ROH tv as much as they do the PPV
david gardner
2024-12-10 00:25:00 +0000 UTCThe weekly shows are basic jobber matches and filler. If the ROH PPV was not included I would not bother subscribing to a show that only cares about the product about 2 weeks before a ppv.
david gardner
2024-12-10 00:22:47 +0000 UTCConsidering how the AEW roster feels about a certain podcaster. How in the world is HOG wrestling still getting AEW talent considering who their announcer is. That individual has said 1000x worse things about TK and AEW and HOG doesn’t get punished

2024-12-10 00:15:19 +0000 UTCThat's probably the only reason.

2024-12-10 00:14:57 +0000 UTCWhat are the weekly shows like, I normally hear good things about the ppvs but usually hear nothing about the regular shows themselves, they worth an honor club sub?

2024-12-10 00:14:08 +0000 UTCIm another ding dong...why do we do it?
Keith Kripke
2024-12-10 00:12:33 +0000 UTCHe is better off in ROH because he ain’t ever making the main Roster considering way more successful individuals can barely do it
david gardner
2024-12-10 00:12:05 +0000 UTCit wouldn't matter Cardona isn't signed so he really doesn't have to listen to Brett
Jeffrey Pollard
2024-12-10 00:10:59 +0000 UTCI like Willie Mack. He is too good to be regulated to ROH.
Chance
2024-12-10 00:10:02 +0000 UTCMan EFFY gonna make GCW Events strictly GCW events. I would say muzzle him if I was GCW but I don’t believe in censoring people

2024-12-10 00:08:59 +0000 UTCSince when has been under contract?
Jeffrey Pollard
2024-12-10 00:08:02 +0000 UTCHe is in ROH I believe so I can see why you are unaware because I am one of the 50 ding dongs who subscribe to ROH

2024-12-10 00:00:26 +0000 UTCI get it, but if Brett asked Cardona not to work AEW, I'm sure Cardona would listen.

2024-12-09 23:58:55 +0000 UTCCardona is a freelancer, the others are signed to AEW. He does a lot of work with GCW, but he's not contractually tied to them

2024-12-09 23:57:15 +0000 UTCI'm so confused by all of this. Between Starks and Mack being removed and Cardona working ROH, I can't make heads or tails of this.
