Bronson Reed On Seth Rollins Feud, Natural Disasters, Gunther, More

Fightful Select had the opportunity to speak with former WWE NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed. Here are the notes from Sean Ross Sapp’s interview with the Australian native.

The interview began with Sean asking Bronson if he was Peter Griffin or The Chicken. Sean refers to the infamous feud from the Fox television show Family Guy, in which Peter’s arch-nemesis happens to be a chicken. Bronson said, “I am definitely Peter Griffin. In my mind, even though that fight is eternal, Peter Griffin will be the one who ends up winning.” (Writers Note: I have provided a link at the bottom if you want to know what they are discussing.)

Sean mentions Bronson's recent feuds and his back-to-back storylines with Braun Strowman and now Seth Rollins, noting how each rivalry has gained attention. Bronson shares that it feels rewarding. Bronson says the past four months have been the biggest for him regarding his career.

They discussed the impact of the "Six Tsunamis" that he hit Seth Rollins with on the August 5th edition of Raw. Bronson recalled the crowd reaction and backstage praise he received from Triple H. Bronson said Triple H told him the moment “is going to live forever.” He compares it to Austin’s “Austin 3:16” promo, hoping this memorable moment will define his character’s trajectory in WWE.

The WWE Raw Superstar told Sean about the physical toll of the Tsunami. Bronson said it was when he ruptured his PCL during a match against Rob Van Dam.

On the topic of championship belts, Sean asks Reed about his favorite title design. Reed mentions his love for the classic "Attitude Era" belts, especially Stone Cold’s “Big Eagle” belt and the Undisputed World Championship from 2002. He said if he had to choose one currently being held, it would probably be Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship. which he feels has a classic, old-school design.

Reed discussed his past encounters with Gunther, then known as WALTER. Reed says he has wrestled Gunther in Australia, Germany,  England, and the United States. Bronson told Sean that he always wanted to wrestle Gunther in Japan. He believes it would be a great match for Japan and noted that it hasn’t happened yet, but he thinks it will one day. Bronson also said he doesn’t envision anyone beating Gunther for quite a long time.

The conversation moved into his connections with fellow Australian wrestlers. Bronson talked about crossing paths with other wrestlers from his independent days. He reflected on feeling part of a new generation in WWE, working alongside newer and veteran wrestlers.

Now, with stars like himself, Rhea Ripley, and Grayson Waller on WWE’s global stage, he hopes to inspire a new generation of fans. Sean would ask if there was a time during the beginning of his career when he knew somebody was going to get signed. Bronson said, “I always tell this story to everyone, but I remember Rhea Ripley. When she first started training, I was like, this girl is going to get signed by WWE. I just knew it.” He tells Sean that he also said the same about Zaria. Bronson mentioned that he is a big fan of someone he helped train, Tommy Knight. Bronson said Knight is starting to do more and work more places.

Sean discusses a tweet that went viral. It was when Bronson commented on teaming with Otis to form “The Natural Disasters 2.0” tag team, a tribute to the iconic Earthquake and Typhoon tag team. Bronson and Sean both said they were fans of Earthquake.

Bronson said if he pursued this direction, his name would be “Tsunami,” while Otis could be “Landslide.” Bronson said the team-up could be a future fallback option.

Sean asked Bronson who had hit him the hardest. Bronson recalled being on the receiving end of Gunther’s chops during a match in Germany. He said the second toughest came from Kenta when they wrestled in NOAH. He said Kenta has powerful kicks, and “every time he kicked me, he gave me a go to sleep that, you know, sent me for a loop.”

Bronson discussed how his return to WWE happened. He said he received a call from Triple H and noted that they have a good relationship and wanted to be there.

Sean mentioned Bronson winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Sean asked if he had received a physical trophy. Bronson clarifies that only one official trophy remains on display, with names added annually, so he could not take it home. He considers creating a replica for himself,

They discussed his “Mr. Nice Guy" gimmick, which Bronson says was inspired by his personal life to a degree and Paul Heyman’s creative input.

In closing, Sean asked Bronson to name his favorite Rage Against the Machine song. Bronson said, “I'm wearing a Bulls on Parade t-shirt, but I mean, it's probably, Testify to be honest.” Sean said he was a fan of the song “Revolver.”
