Didn't guys like AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura work out a deal so they get to still use their namesake outside of WWE if they ever leave? What makes it so different for the Lucha Bros to not be able to do that?

Even if they do own the rights, WWE almost always (outside of really big, important names) wants to make changes so they can own the trademarks. I can't see the LB s giving up their likeness to WWE. IT will likely be, as Matt said, very minor changes. Hell. Lucha Wrestling brothers might be it. Rey Mysterio Jr became Rey Mysterio.

I don’t think they own the rights to those names I think CML owns them. I think they will probably get similar enough names. They both trademarked Rey Fuego & King Penta. They will likely have the same characters & presentation just with a different name

By all accounts, the current WWE is a better place to work than under John and Vince, both of whom had reputations for not just being petty, but flat out mean. In the days of territories, plenty of wrestlers moved on when a booker simply had no creative plans for them. New territory, new chance to succeed. And a lot of times, talent might head back after a year or so.

As much as TK is within his rights to trigger the extra year on Fenix's contract, he'd have a very disgruntled wrestler on his books. Better just let him go and build up another team, like hopefully they're doing with the Outrunners.

Given how much time Fenix has missed, I would imagine Tony could tie him up for some time. But by all accounts, The Brothers were always professional and even if you don't like AEW, Tony has a reputation for being a fair man. If memory serves, he had a option with Cody, but was a professional and did not tie him up. If the LBs had been jerks, maybe Tony would screw with them, but I don't see that happening. Best of luck to them. New landscape, new challenges. Not unlike Ricochet. Sometimes you don't make a change because you are angry, you just want to try something different.

I don’t think he will I think the Fenix AEW situation will be similar to WWE & Lashey situation. WWE could of added injury time to keep Bobby around but choose not to after he turned down a new contract. There are a lot of things you can both praise & criticise Tony Khan & Triple H for but both guys to there credit don’t seem to hold talent hostage if they want to leave

Well there you go. Penta deal I remember it being reported expired in August with Fenix expiring some time in September. Assuming TK doesn’t add injury time to Fenix which id like to think he wouldn’t be petty enough to do. I imagine we see them both turn up in WWE in October
