WWE contract update

Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp confirmed a PWInsider report this week that WWE had approached a number of talent about re-signing ahead of their deals expiring. This method is a far cry from what we've seen throughout a good part of the year. In one case, Damian Priest's deal was set to expire right around the time he renewed.
Specifically, WWE source tells Fightful that Kevin Owens has been approached for a new contract. We're told that Owens has not signed a new deal as of yet, but communication has been made. His contract is expected to be up at the end of the year.
Those that we spoke to in AEW said that the company has long had major interest in bringing Owens in when and if he's available. They're expected to make him an offer if he reaches free agency.
WWE have re-signed Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Natalya, Humberto Carrillo, Angel Garza, Cedric Alexander, Nikki Cross and numerous other talent in 2024.

The one reason I could see him going to AEW is he might want the chance to work with some of his old friends, have a chance to have more of a say in his matches and storylines, and work a lighter schedule. If he were younger, I would be 100% certain he stays in WWE.

While Kevin Steen returning would be cool I think WWE the best spot for KO. Back in 2021 I was begging for this guy to leave WWE for AEW because AEW was the hot company & WWE was cold. In 2024 I want him to stay in WWE because it’s the hot company & AEW is very cold & going to AEW isn’t as appealing as it was 3 years ago. Whatever decision he makes I hope he’s happy I think been a highlight of WWE program he’s been one of the companies top babyface is a grand slam champion & a two time WrestleMania main eventer. Get that bag Kevin you deserve it

2024-09-19 22:31:29 +0000 UTCOther than Sheamus and Ricochet, KO is one of the biggest 'that makes sense ' signings for AEW. They did get Ricochet, they didn't get Sheamus, be interesting to see how Kevin pans out. He doesn't really have a reason to leave WWE, but AEWs slightly edgier style is way more in line with Kevin Steen in RoH and PWG. He's fine either way
