Select Portions: Ivar Injury, Charlette Renegade, Reggie, Maya World
Added 2024-05-17 17:14:25 +0000 UTCRegarding reports that Ivar's injury is a work, we're told that isn't true whatsoever. The severity of the injury isn't known as of yet, but we're told Ivar has long wrestled as if he's on borrowed time after his double fusion surgery
Charlette Renegade reached out to Fightful and posted publicly that her absence isn't related to a concussion. AEW sources were adamant that led to her absence, but we will leave the physical updates to her in that regard.
Smackdown plans should be returning tonight.
Fightful spoke with Reggie/Reginald/SCRYPTS/Sidney Akeem for his first post-WWE interview. Early access is available for tier 2 subscribers and Youtube members, with notes going up on Select tonight. He's actually still under contract for a couple of weeks, and immediately had interest from indie companies.
Fightful has heard positive reaction to new interviewer Arkady Aura's AEW work so far.
Maya World
Fightful’s Corey Brennan recently sat down with Maya World for an interview.
Maya noted that watching Mercedes Mone in 2015 inspired her to become a professional wrestler, also stating that Mone vs Willow Nightingale at Double Or Nothing should main event the PPV.
Maya said that nothing has caught her up guard in her development as a pro wrestler a year in, but also admitted that her match with Mayu Iwatani was the biggest surprise she’s had during her career. Maya also noted that Mayu’s charisma blew her away and that she learned that just being yourself in the ring is the way to go.
Maya discussed her match with Athena on Ring Of Honor television, where she would come up short. World explained that having been trained partially by Athena, she was prepared for the match but was still nervous before. World is excited for her upcoming rematch with the Ring Of Honor Women’s World Champion, and proving that one day she can be the best in the world. Maya also expressed her desire to face Billie Starkz, possibly in a deathmatch.
When asked about Queen Aminata, World noted that she learned to hit as hard as she gets hit from her match with the Ring Of Honor star.
Maya discussed her training with Thunder Rosa and Mission Pro, putting over Rosa as a trainer and the energy she brings to her coaching with World labeling Rosa an ‘amazing mentor’.
While talking about possibly making her way to NXT, Maya discussed Wren Sinclair’s signing and her happiness to see Wren get signed despite wanting a match with her, herself. World also noted that in the next few years, she hopes to be signed to either NXT or AEW.
Throughout the course of the interview, Maya mentioned several times her desire to wrestle deathmatches or hardcore stipulations.
Maya also reflected on working with Izzy Moreno, reminiscing about her being a Sasha Banks superfan to Izzy’s Bayley superfan.
Maya spoke about the first WrestleMania weekend of her career, noting her surprise at the attention she received for his performances.
