Comics are Hell

I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm working slower than ever. I don't understand how other artists put out so much so quickly and still have it look good. I've spent the last 3 days working on three comic pages and I barely have anything to show for any of them. I hate them. I really, really, really hate them. I don't want to hate them. I want to keep making them for myself, but they just eat up so much time and energy, and I have so little to show for it.

There needs to be some kind of change. I can't keep doing comics. We need to talk about taking a break from them for a year or something. Maybe starting Jan 1st, no comics anymore. Anyone Patrons who want to drop me because of this (basically only relevant to Princes and Fool), maybe just drop me. This is unsubstanable. I'm not a good enough artists to keep this up.

As for Archdukes ($40) I'm going to reinforce the rule that you're just getting characters. No scenery or comics. No waiting 3 months and asking for something big. Just characters. That's it. I can't keep up.

As a former fool who loves your work, and continues to, I am in agreement with the rest! Do what you feel is best for you! If these patrons truly love your work, they won't hold it against you for dropping comics. If they do, then I am certain you will find patrons willing to replace them.

Hell, I got money to spend. If an Archduke spot becomes available I'll fill it no prob.

Hope you continue to draw whatever you enjoy drawing. That's when your best work will shine. Take care!

I respect and support this decision my dude. You're not a machine. If because of stress to fulfill obligations drawing smut becomes no longer fun or enjoyable for you, Patreon doesn't mean jack shit anyway.

As people are saying, it's importante for you to like what you do, and i'm sure that most patreons will follow you through it.
If you need to take a break from some things then that's fine, or you can do as you mentioned before of making the comics one panel at a time to avoid problemes with your computer.
Even if we would loose some details like that it might make it easier for you to focus if it's only one panel and not the hole comic.
So do what you think is best for the art and i'm sure the patreons will organise themselves around that.

thanks Ace. I just have so many things I'd like to draw, and I get discouraged when I actually sit down and try to make them happen.

Ok, buddy relax, breath, and here we go. As everyone say lets not be pessimistic, try to do some images and maybe check your comic process, How to change, how to speed and how you full in love with them. Perhaps trying to work a panel at a time. To solve a problem first you need to find what slow you or what you hate Even then if you really need a comic break no worry, we stand by you

If you have 4, thats a week an image. You can judge what your levels of work/energy are for a month and can add another prince when your ready. Get the workload off your mind and you'll be able to relax and be fresh again. You can always offer sketch comics as an alternative too?

TOFUK

Maybe. I thought about cutting archdukes and going 5 princes, 1 fool. But I don't know how to sell that if comics are off the table.

I think you have enough patrons to fill the gaps with the right number of slots if people do drop off. But if on average an image every 2 days effectively and the range of said request, maybe cut archdukes? I think you need a break personally. But if your free of 10 requests with the Princes/Fool as your target of 4 a month you can spread things out.

TOFUK

Rather have you happy and loving what you do man, no point if there's no love in it right?

I'm just worried that I'm going to lose the bigger Patrons because I think my pages are the only think keeping me relevant. Comics are just too hard. They are 3 or 4 times as intensive as regular pictures.

Seems fair to me. You do you man.
