News And Notes From This Week's NXT Tapings
Added 2024-05-02 16:00:10 +0000 UTCFightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned the following notes from this week’s edition of NXT.
- Wendy Choo received a large ovation during her Level Up match, and was visibly overwhelmed with emotion following her return to the ring.
- This week, the rundowns for the show featured Alundra Blayze and Mae Young being used as placeholders for Mia Yim and Chelsea Green’s appearances on the April 30th edition of NXT.
- Wes Lee was met backstage to a big reception from talent, production and higher ups after his return.
- Amongst the talent we spoke to that remained in NXT after the Draft, there was a sense of relief about not being thrown into the deep end on the main roster.
- Chelsea Green has been a talent requested in NXT for quite some time. There have been pitches since Von Wagner’s release to pair Green back up with Stone on the main roster.
- With regards to main roster names heading down to NXT, Brennan is told the reasons for no talent being officially drafted to NXT included a fear some talent would see it as a demotion, along with issues about the difference between main roster and NXT contracts in WWE. Main roster talent are expected to continue showing up in NXT in the coming months.
Level Up Producers
- Wendy Choo vs Wren Sinclar: Norman Smiley and Robert Stone
- Josh Briggs vs Cutler James: Robbie Brookside
- Stacks and Luca Crusifino vs Dante Chen and Dion Lennox: AJ Winkler
- Je’Von Evans vs Riley Osborne: Corey Weston

I don't disagree, I am just saying that would help make it feel more Major League and less like developmental.

2024-05-02 18:46:41 +0000 UTCTaking it on the road full time would be oversaturating the market. It has its own feel, it doesn’t need to be another version of RAW or SD.

2024-05-02 18:18:54 +0000 UTCThe only way to make getting drafted to NXT not seem like a demotion, is by permanently moving NXT out of the PC and taking it on the road full time like RAW and SMACKDOWN and make them a legitimate 3rd brand.

2024-05-02 17:04:04 +0000 UTCMy argument to this is, it appears heavy cause it's something that hasn't been covered at length on Select before. It's no more heavy than our coverage of the main roster.

2024-05-02 16:43:46 +0000 UTCI know Corey appears to have endless connections in NXT, and I know you’re going to post the scoops that you get…BUT the news coverage here on Select has become incredibly NXT-heavy in the past couple months. I can only speak for myself, but I think you may be severely overestimating the level of NXT interest in your subscribers.
