More on MLW/NJPW/CMLL

MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling and CMLL have announced a strategic alliance, and Fightful Select has more news on it.

CMLL Informa broke the news today, but Fightful Select has confirmed that discussions started in early July between the three groups. The partnership will launch in October.

MLW adjusted its roster to alight with CMLL, which means that they will not use any AAA talent. This is the reason why talent like Sam Adonis finished up with Major League Wrestling in recent months.

Those that we've spoken to say there will be a steady flow of talent between the three groups. MLW is looking to get a big refresh of lucha talent in 2024, including a lot of CMLL talent heading over. New Japan Pro Wrestling crossover will get bigger as they get into the new year.

Salina De La Renta, who recently returned to MLW, will be a central figure in storylines that involve MLW and CMLL.

The original article (which was sent out on 9/27) stated: "MLW, New Japan Pro Wrestling and AAA have announced a strategic alliance, and Fightful Select has more news on it. After mentioning it in the comments, they edited it on Patreon. So, maybe you were a little bit slow to read that article when it came out 🤔😉

They edited the article after it was pointed it out.

I ... are you and four other people who've liked this a bit slow? He mentioned AAA once, not twice, and was very clear that they're not part of the partnership due to being CMLL'S rival. Why is this a hard to understand mystery to five people?

MLW had already announced an association with New Japan a month or two ago. I don’t think this affects the AEW alliance that directly right now.

Karsten School

Why does NJPW need to do this? Does it say anything about what they think of the AEW relationship? It feels like NJPW needs to have something that they’re the big fish in. Clearly they’re the largest of those 3 where they are very small compared to AEW.

Dave Stroble

CMLL and AAA are not on good terms. MLW is not using AAA talent anymore

Fightful Select

You mentioned AAA twice in the article, but they're not a part of this association, right?

Harry Ruiz

The strategy where we get rid of AAA? Was AAA involved or was this more of a move by CMLL to get rid of them?
