Jade Cargill likely finished with AEW, expected to head to WWE
Added 2023-09-14 05:29:54 +0000 UTCJade Cargill is likely finished up with All Elite Wrestling, sources tell Fightful Select.
Jade Cargill made a return at this past week's AEW Collision, and quickly set up a match with Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship. To the surprise of many, it was booked for Rampage, and SPOILER ALERT -- Kris Statlander beat Jade Cargill clean in their rematch. We're told by AEW sources that this is because as things stand at this moment, Cargill is finishing up with AEW, with the September 13 tapings in Cincinnati possibly being her last appearance.
We're told that the situation unfolded last week, and Cargill was brought back to Collision in order to wrap up and put over Kris Statlander clean.
Fightful has spoken to sources within both AEW and WWE that believe she is headed to WWE. We should specify that we haven't heard of an official offer being made, and as is always the case, things can change in the world of pro wrestling, including a situation like this.
To be clear, we haven't learned how long her AEW contract has left on it. We'd recently heard that there were option years in play, but hadn't heard who held those options.
The wide rumor within rosters of both WWE and AEW is that Cargill will be heading to WWE.
We'll update this as we get more.

Maybe it’s just me but I actually feel like Jade leaving might be a good thing not just for her and WWE, but also AEW itself. Jade comes off more like a WWE star and regardless of how she develops in-ring they’ll def present her like one. Which is good especially if her goal isn’t to stay in wrestling for that long and transition into movies and TV. Meanwhile, she didn’t really fit well in AEW. It’s more work-rate focused even with how TK books the women’s division. Part of the issue imo was she really wasn’t allowed to get a ton of longer match reps in during her run because they wanted her on TV despite being green. With her out of the company that’s one less awkward booking situation they have to worry about. Hopefully they can now focus on other folks like Willow, Athena heck maybe even Mercedes if she comes in.

2023-09-14 21:20:39 +0000 UTCThe best move is for her to go to WWE. In AEW, wrestling is the first priority. She's a bonafide star but her ability in the ring made it clear, everyone she got in the ring with was playing down to her ability and it showed. In WWE, her ability won't be nearly on display as her presentation will be. There's a higher ceiling for her in WWE than AEW. However, TK needs to do everything possible to snag one of the top female wrestlers WWE has (Bayley, Charlotte, Becky, Bianca, Asuka, Ripley), when the opportunity arises, not counting Mercedes Mone. WWE is going to strap a rocket to Jade and will make AEW look bad in the process.

2023-09-14 20:48:55 +0000 UTCThere has to be something wrong with AEW. They have their best week possibly ever for Pro Wrestling, yet the CM Punk issue, now this. I'm a fan since day one, and realize Tony needs to hire a talent director and a co-booker. Reduce ticket prices, and finally have someone scout out new venues and arenas to visit.

2023-09-14 07:19:10 +0000 UTCSeems weird considering how much she said the schedule was a big turnoff for her and she doesn't want to be away from her daughter as much. Though of course that all could have been a lie/work to not rock the boat; going to assume that anyone who was close to Cody in AEW are good at lying (reference to something Danielson said a while back). Either way, it's going to be interesting to see this all play out. And to those saying it's not a surprise based on how TK booked the women's division: Jade was an outlier in that he always protected her and treated her like a star, and it's not all sunshine and rainbows in WWE either (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn haven't been on TV since losing the titles to Ronda and Shayna, both Ronda and Lacey Evans have left, Emma/Tegan/Xia Li/Michin are all non-factors, and that's not even getting into some of the questionable decisions made for some of the women who are regularly featured); outside of Joshi promotions, Impact has been doing the best with their women lately. Granted, I'm sure WWE will roll out the red carpet for her and not have her do a stint in NXT, so that last point will be moot, but I could see this affecting the moral of *some* women there.
