Cody Rhodes Tells Fightful About Adopting Moves, Press Conferences, More

Sean mentioned how Cody brought back the media calls and scrums to wrestling. Cody said Brandi was responsible for bringing it to AEW. Cody mentioned that they brought it back in WWE because he talked about it with former WWE Vice President of Communications Adam Hopkins. He told Hopkins they should do it after WrestleMania 38. Cody said they had a beautiful turnout for it.
Cody said the business is in the most successful time in history. From an opinion standpoint, he mentioned that the Attitude Era was amazing, but based on ticket sales and other things, wrestling in a new golden era. Cody said people want to take the credit, but he said screw that; we all get to be a part of it; we’re in this together. He mentioned how he got to be part of the revival of the Indies.
Sean asked Cody about some of the moves he’s performed in the ring and mentioned how he sometimes uses Dustin’s uppercut. Sean asked if it was done as a homage to other wrestlers. Cody said Booker T and Jerry Lynn as two others he’s used moves from.
Cody joked that he has a rule that he can use all of your stuff if he has wrestled you more than five times. Cody says he loves the Cody Cutter and said it’s better than the Os-Cutter, but he did get it from Will Ospreay and would mention that Will is beyond super talented, but he was better.
Cody told Sean about a past conversation with Jay Lethal regarding his five-match rule, and said Lethal hated it and said, “that’s not how this works.” Cody says he likes to sponge and has to lean into it when he’s doing things.
Cody said there are a couple of Arn Anderson things that he does that are hard to visualize, but It’s all someone else’s, and he just tries to put it in a Nightmare package.
Sean would end the interview by asking Cody what he wanted the headline of the interview to be. Cody said, “Thank You, Sean.” Cody mentioned that a portion of the documentary talks about him being a free agent and it being reported. Cody would say that some on one side of the fence don’t like it, and others think it's the best thing that could have ever happened for all companies.
