Select Portions: AEW Talent Meeting, All In, Mark Briscoe, Move Ban

- We're told that there was a talent meeting at last week's AEW Collision. We're working to learn more about it, but many talent on Dynamite had no idea about it.

- In great news for SRS' geographical area, one wrestling promoter said that Kentucky/Cincinnati/Indianapolis, as well has Tennessee has been heating up and becoming a desirable area for promoters.

- Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Radio noted that All In might run on PPV with a package deal with All Out. We can confirm that other avenues have been discussed along the way.

- As noted on Fightful Select Thursday, people close to Mark Briscoe indicated he has a serious knee injury and will require surgery. Unfortunately he's likely to miss the rest of 2023 unless something major happens.

- If you wanted to see the entire AEW move ban memo, it is below:

AEW: Health and Safety Protocols Relating to Matches

The health and safety of our talent, staff, crew and fans are of paramount importance to AEW. Our medical team, coaches and referees have developed the following protocols to ensure that our matches are performed as safely as possible. We know there is some risk in professional wrestling performances, but our objective is to ensure that we minimize the risk without compromising the quality of the performances and our talent's ability to be creative. More simply put, AEW seeks to perform all stunts and spots as safely as possible. To that end, please review the following protocols. If you have any questions, please ask any member of our coaching staff, medical staff or legal team. Please respect your coaches, referees and team medical, all of whom are working to try to keep you safe and healthy.

The following moves are not allowed under any circumstances (these are prohibited for your safety, safety of the staff and crew, safety of our fans, and compliance with laws and venue requirements):

- Unprotected shots to the head

- Shots to the back of the head

- Buckle bombs/Blind moves backward into the turnbuckle

- Fencing response/seizure sells

- Spitting

- Blood in the crowd (i.e., no bleeding while in the crowd and no throwing bloody gear, tape, or other objects in the crowd)

- Weapons/projectiles in the crowd

- Taking drinks or food from guests in the crowd

- Physical contact with the crowd (e.g., wrestler holding opponent and allowing a fan to chop them)

The following moves are only allowed if approved by medical AND the match coach and must be performed in accordance with any safety protocols:

- Spots and bumps on the ring apron and outside

- Table/ladder/chair spots in and out of the ring (Only allowed with padding)

- Any elevated spots outside of the barricades (dives and ladder spots on stage, around the arena, and other places outside of the ring)

- All piledriver/tombstone variations, including: sit down drivers, inverted/poison hurricarana and vertebreakers

- High-risk dives or top rope moves (450, 630, double moonsaults, SSP, etc.) Intentional bleeding (of any sort, not just blading)

- Throwing people into/through/over ring steps, commentary table, bell table, or guardrails/barricades Weapon usage:

- Chairs, pipes, kendo sticks, hammers, ring bells, bats, chains, etc. Title belts

- Thumbtacks, skewers, barbed wire, and other sharp/puncturing objects o Powders, aerosol sprays, or liquids

- Throwing any weapons or objects- chairs, etc.

- Choking/strangling with hands or a weapon or hanging spots

- Injury spots or angles, whether or not medical is involved/called to the ring

- Any physicality in the crowd or crowd brawling

- Any physicality involving referees, managers, extras, celebrities, or special guests

- This is not a comprehensive list and can be modified as appropriate by medical, legal, and coaching staff

**Advance planning really helps! We would love to be able to say yes to creative stunts and spots, but generally need time to find ways to plan them, get any required safety equipment (e.g., if we want to break glass, we would need time to get sugar glass and not regular glass) and get any required permits. If you have an idea, please talk to a coach, talent relations, team medical or team legal as early as possible.

Comments

I certainly hope that they work out a package deal with directv. That’s my main way of watching the ppv’s, and I’m not looking forward to dishing out for two in one week. Ugh!
