Darby Allin talks Jackass rumors, AEW Double or Nothing, More
Added 2023-05-23 21:33:06 +0000 UTCFightful Select caught up with one of the All Elite Wrestling stars, Darby Allin, for an exclusive interview. He joined us to promote his upcoming match at this Sunday’s AEW’s Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View event in Las Vegas. In the main event, Darby will challenge for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship against three competitors: Jack Perry, Sammy Guevara, and AEW Heavyweight Champion MJF.
Darby opened the conversation by telling Fightful that this will be a significant yet special weekend for him and added that he is ready to “rock it.”
Sean Ross Sapp mentioned that Darby had a history with all three opponents for this week’s main event before AEW existed. Darby said it is very special for him because time has flown by, and life circles back. He spoke about how everyone had different paths to get where they were, but they will all meet at the same spot.
Darby says that he believes all four men have a chip on their shoulders and that they cannot fail. Darby told us that almost everyone is the same, even from wrestling before they were in AEW. He said from wrestling Jack Perry in a no-ring match in California, Sammy Guevara at BLP, and Wrestling against MJF in Maine.
Darby said he never cared for the term “Four Pillars.” He believes it’s a cute phrase that MJF came up with. He said he feels like they are above others. Darby said whoever rides or dies with AEW is a pillar.
Sean asks Darby what it means to him when he hears that someone who wants to dress up has him. Darby said it’s important because “when he was younger, he could not relate to many wrestlers.” He said he always envisioned himself hanging out with skateboarders and punk rockers when he was younger. Darby said AEW letting him just be him inside and outside the ring allows him to connect to more people.
He mentioned that his friend Nascar Driver and former X Games Gold Medal Winner Travis Pastrana, did not watch wrestling but started watching Darby’s matches and “found them to be insane.” Darby says he wants to attract more people who are not wrestling fans and hopes it gains them more fans.
Darby says if people give AEW an opportunity, they will see something they like. He also said that’s a great thing about AEW; they let him be him inside and outside the ring and that no other company will let him be himself. Darby said nobody would allow me to skate with Tony Hawk, jump my house with Travis Pastrana, or climb Mt. Everest.
Darby said he told Tony Khan that he might be the worst businessman because there would be no bidding war for him.
Sean asked Darby Allin about the rumors that he would appear in Jackass 4. Darby said the rumors started because he filmed a skit with Steve-O. Steve-O sent the video to Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine (Creator and Director of Jackass) and said they needed to get him in the movie. Darby said by then, all of the contracts were settled. However, Darby told them he would have done it for free.
Darby says it was good that he was not in the movie because he pitched an idea to Steve-O about doing the Mega Ramp skateboard stunt. Darby said he would be open to doing something with Jackass in the future, but it depends on where he is in his career.
He said it takes ten weeks to climb Everest, meaning he would be away from AEW for a while. He said he told Khan about the plan and wants to plant an AEW flag at the top. He said in return; it would lead to interviews and more publicity for the company. He did mention that a team from Discovery would document the climb. Darby said Tony was cool with it, but then he realized, “Wait, it’s Mt. Everest, you might die.” However, Darby told Tony, “I got this.”
Darby said he does “crazy things” to break down the mental barriers in his head. He said he started to gain more confidence when he started doing stunts. Darby said being in the main event for this Sunday; he says his confidence has never had more confidence in his entire life.
They discussed his match against MJF at Full Gear 2021. He said they kicked the show off, and Darby mentioned that no other match compared to theirs that night. He said it showed the homegrown talent could work. Darby mentioned that it was one of the most important matches of his career and probably company history.
He talked about the screenplay he has written and plans to start filming after Wembley [AEW’s ALL IN event]; he says when he starts something, he likes to finish it. He doesn’t want to have to take a break and come back to do things. Darby said everything is set and hopes to start in September or October.
They wrapped up the conversation talking about his partnership with Sting. Darby said everything with Sting happened organically and came together for them. They shared ideas, and Sting realized he could trust him, and they have been attached at the hip ever since.

If westerners could stop climbing Everest just because they can, that would be great

2023-05-24 08:25:32 +0000 UTCI'm not sure he ever got to that level of climbing. If you pay enough im sure some guide will take you but, in general, you gotta have ALOT of experience to even get considered to be allowed to attempt to climb Everest
