More on why WWE is going to O2 for Money in the Bank

WWE is running London's O2 Arena for WWE Money in the Bank, exciting UK fans, but leaving some with questions.

Fightful spoke to WWE sources about the announcement this week, and asked about the decision to run O2 as opposed to a stadium. With the success of Clash at the Castle, WWE would likely easily sell out a stadium for what they consider one of their "big 5" shows. One WWE source said that they view O2 Arena as the "MSG of England" and it was a venue they wanted to travel to.

Another source indicated that running a show of this magnitude helps establish the importance of MITB as one of their biggest PPVs. There had been rumors that the show would go away altogether, but are told that wasn't seriously considered. Also, contrary to rumors, it was reiterated to us that no booking plans are set for that show.

While Nick Khan got credit for many of the dates, locations and venues that ended up being successful for WWE in 2022, we're told it was a collaborative effort this go around.

Thought they’d have gone for the Manchester Arena with it being the bigger venue but it’ll have the draw of being in the capital

Wembley Stadium holds more people, but that's usually Wimbledon finals week, making it impossible. Plus you probably don't want weather causing injuries with the already dangerous ladder matches.

Michael Adams

You’re delusional lol

A) It’s not, but B) with the O2 only holding 20k and Craven Cottage holding similar, I hope they run head to head just to increase the chances of getting tickets to one of them haha

Lew Markham

I'd assume thats where they are getting the comparison between MSG and the O2. Similar in size and capacity and both are in the top 3 venues in the world in terms of ticket sales. Boxing, MMA, Tennis, Basketball.. Wembley stadium doesn't host a whole lot of events outside of football and the occasional summer concert.

I know. I’m not talking about the size. I’m talking about the sentiment. Meaning like MSG performers regardless of their industry such as sports, music l, entertainment, etc. dream of performing in it because of the history of the venue.

Kyle Cotton

Wembley seats over 90,000.

ES

Maybe it's the soccer fan in me, but I believe Wembley is the MSG of England

This is actually the WWE trying to book a bunch of UK Shows to ruin any hopes of AEW doing a big show in the UK.

Raymond Slover

So long as Vince doesn't fuck it up or gets ousted somehow(let me hope), we're so close to a WrestleMania in the UK.

CSDX

Would be nice if they used the whole arena instead of blocking the back side of where they come out, should be somewhat like the 2008 Royal Rumble.

Jesus Cisneros

Hopefully the next PLE comes to Scotland so Drew can have his moment with his people

Calum Darren Moore

I’d love if they rotated the non Wrestlemania (probably can’t go abroad with sponsors and everything) big 5 events with one being out of the country every year.

Trevor D.

Off topic, screw Vince.
