New Video Is Up

I have a new video up. It's about torpedo bombers of WW2. This one took a lot longer to make than I had planned. It started off as a 20 min video and grew to about 70mins. I hope you folks like it.

I'll get the Avenger, US Navy gunnery/turret manual, and Barracuda manual up in the next day or so. I'll probably put the Avenger manuals in the FE tier, Barracuda FO, and USN gunnery at the capt. level.

The video link is below, just scroll down.

Two thoughts, 1. Given the miserable/borderline criminally negligent performance of USN torpedoes, even if the Devastators? could survive and launch it would be doubtful the torpedo would detonate when striking an IJN ship. 2. Doesn’t the curvature of the Earth keep low flying aircraft with radar from detecting anything beyond 20nm? Great video, I could watch these all day, but work insists I show up if I want a paycheck😭😎

Shattered Sword really is a fantastic book.

Greg I really enjoyed the video. I thought I should note that if you haven't read Shattered Sword by Parshall and Tully you should consider it. They make a fairly compelling case that the real significance of the initial torpedo bomber attacks was that they forced the Japanese carriers to maneuver hindering flight operations and preventing them from spotting their planes. Basically the CAP could have regained sufficient altitude after the second squadron was shot down given the impressive climb rate of the Zero. But the Japanese CAP had lost situational awareness and when the final attack came it was from too many different directions and they overcommitted on Thach's flight.

Thanks for this. My dad was the radar/radio operator in an Avenger flying from the Shangri-La and he rarely talked about it.
