Publishing Schedule, and Fun with Prompts
Added 2022-11-15 14:25:51 +0000 UTCI'll tell you all about the poll results in a few days, when more people have answered it (it'll go out to the newsletter next week). In the meantime, I want to talk about scheduling, since yesterday I made my 2022-2023 publishing schedule (you can watch me work through it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsxyBOsRKxc&feature=emb_logo )
The major takeaway from this is that I'm going to have two short story collections out in 2023. This year's holiday book I've punted to 2023 because the Lesandurel novella keeps growing (and none of you are surprised). Putting it off until next year gives me the entire 2022 holiday season to finish writing it, so you'll probably see bits of it go up in December as I work. I'll have a pre-order up for that collection as soon as I'm done with the novella, and my target date is Black Friday 2023.
The other one I'm marking in for February/March of next year because I want to do another Kickstarter/prompt collection--this was inspired by my feeling the need to write the story of the aftermath of Beth's fate in Scion, which some of you all will have read (the unicorn story, and the one about Giliriel). Those two give me a good seed for the collection, and I have one more short planned that I want to write, regardless of people’s votes. Then we can do the fun ‘vote for your favorites’ thing we usually do now with this kind of Kickstarter, and here were a few of my ideas:
- Evelis and the Attendant learning about governance
- Haladir and the Twelveworld Lord meet (the two heads of naval contingents in the system)
- Jeasa and Haladir planning their wedding
- Vasiht'h and Sehvi and medical stuff
- A story about the Seni candy maker
- Something with Lili? Oooh, Lili and Velederien would be cute
- Something with Maia? About Crispin? Or Uuvek?
- Something with the Faulfenza and their new embassy?
All these would be narrowly confined in chronology, which will give us one of the only short story collections where that’s true.😅 And it would bring us right to where I started the Surela novel, which is about 15% done now, and slated for summer release next year. Those of you who really, really want more Reese, Surela’s novels are the answer to your requests… she’s a significant character in all three of Surela’s books (as one would expect of Surela’s new liegelady and patroness).
I'm planning for that now (tentatively titling it something about the Summer Court, to make it sound like In the Court of Dragons). I am back to updating the wiki because I am again finding things that are missing as I resume writing in this setting. Things like ‘when did Urise and Belinor go to Chalice,’ because of course that’s necessary information for writing the Lesandurel novella, and then discovering that the most up-to-date timeline drawing upload isn’t on the Fallowtide timeline page… you know. Normal stuff when you have a 30-year-old canon and you think you've successfully wrangled it because hubris. XD
But I am beginning to find my footing again, which is important, because returning to the Peltedverse after half a year of mostly paying attention to other things has re-impressed on my mind how enormous it is. It’s like gathering the leashes of a thousand cats…! But I'm feeling livelier and more able, so that's a good sign.
That’s the plan for now. Let me know if there’s stuff you want to see more of: characters, themes, plots, places.

I am endlessly fascinated by Val, and it just occured to me that I don't think I've ever read anything from his point of view? If so, that's a challenge ;) Also, apropos of nothing: Can eldritch men grow beards? And if so, do they do so?
