Volunteer Positions

So back to thinking out loud! I already batted some of this around with the folks in the chat, but more heads are better! My goal is twofold: first, I'd like to maintain my business; and second, I'd like to maintain my community. There's not a whole lot I can think of for #1 there, because of how packed down my business model is (maybe y'all can suggest things?), but #2 is wide open.

First, the volunteer duties I need for the business:

For the community stuff, the field is wider. I'd like to get our community wall more active, but after lots of testing we've discovered that patrons can't opt into notifications of community posting, so the only way you'll know there's stuff there is if you check it manually... or if I post about it. But I think if we get enough discussions going there, it will be worth checking regularly, and I don't mind aggregating the week's community activity and making a post with links... that might make great Saturday content, since weekends tend to be slow.

My vague wish for the wall is that it becomes kind of like a local newspaper or gazette: milestones, recipes, local news, classifieds, etc. So most of the volunteer opportunities are for someone to host a regular activity. Things people are interested in:

If there's some other thing you'd like to offer, I'm all ears. Honestly, I know it sounds a little odd, but I kind of think you all are cool people and if I can facilitate y'all talking to each other and getting to know one another (while I get to lurk and enjoy your coolness), I'd like that. :)

Anyway, this is all off the top of my head. If you have your own ideas, please share!

Volunteer Positions

Comments

I’ll continue to volunteer for beta/ first reading.

If you need another First Reader, I'm happy to lend my proofreading eyes to anything that needs it (except for the Prince's Game series). I also have experience in e-book design and editing, if that comes in handy!

I could do the Fan Art Hunter position, since I do that anyway with other stuff that I like. Though I'm wondering what Candle Duty is? (it's been a while). Though a volunteer position for someone who tells other people about the latest thing of yours that is available on their social media accounts or through word of mouth might be a good idea too.

Hunter Angelus

I'm happy to share recipes. I've read all of your books and stories in the PeltedVerse, and am working through the rest of your writings. The only thing I haven't read yet is the Jokka. I'm happy to figure out which I've read but haven't posted reviews of and then remedy that. I'm also happy to do Candle Duty. I'd love to see and contribute to other book review/discussions, and am also interested in support posts.

I know I've been quiet on here, but I never quite made the transition properly from LJ and I have been lurking! (Because I think the usernames are all different: you know me as falcon21893 on LJ and Syrinx on FR). I'd love to help out as a reviewer -- probably UnAdvance is better as there is more flexibility in timing there.

happy to continue on as a first reader! (with a spouse!fellow-fan, we've got an excellent joint head for canon, altho I'm careful not to share spoilers for everyone's sake) (one of our earliest dates involved us discussing Honor Harrington canon in depth.... couldn't believe I was dating someone who could also recall the names of the many!! supporting cast without reference for a series I also loved!) about the only series of yours I'm not caught up on is the Alysha's Fall subset of Pelted-verse

Capriox and Talikan

I'm interested in being a fan art hunter! I'm a bit behind on some series, so I may not have all the character names (is the wiki up-to-date enough that I could make do?), but I enjoy searching for things online.

Since I'm already planning on reading everything I can find of the Peltedverse, I can be one of the UnAdvanced reviewers.

I can do unadvance reading! I can check and see which books don't have reviews that I own and reread them for that. :)

I'm more than willing to be an advance reader and an unadvance reader--and I'm not sure if I've done first reader for 3+, but I know I've done it for you in the past and am still willing to do it again. Also, I'm more than willing to serve as candle duty as well. :)

JC

*waves* I can do recipes! I love to bake, and I have no one to share them with. People to shove recipes at sounds awesome *pulls out the grilled lemonade one*. Or maybe book recs? (Cleared with jaguar of course, because, you know, different strokes and all :) )

R Coots

Hello, Jaguar. I'm still interested in being advance reader on PG and for the characters in HI in new books if you want me. I would also love to advance read for Kherishdar if you publish more in that series. However, I just got a new job (I start Monday!), and would probably need 5-7 days to do the review. Advance notice would be helpful so I can re-read the cannon before I look at the new book (although I know all of these pretty well now).
