Rusty Quill Presents: The Magnus Protocol

Hi folks,

The wait is (almost) over. The Magnus Protocol officially releases this week. Thank you, to every single one of you for supporting us here on Patreon or on our Kickstarter, making this highly anticipated release possible.

Episodes one and two will be available to Knights and Noble Patreon supporters and to Kickstarter backers who backed at a tier eligible for Early Access tomorrow, Tuesday 16th January at 4pm GMT. Please be aware that launch days can put our websites under strain, which can cause small delays in accessing the episode or loading lags. Have patience and try to avoid repeatedly reloading pages, as this can make the lag worse! For Patrons, episode 1 will be shared at 4pm GMT, and episode 2 at 5pm GMT. As we make a return to the horror genre, please remember content warnings and a link to the transcript will be available in the shownotes. If you’d rather listen via the links on Kickstarter, which will be available for those who pledged for a tier including early access, please note that content warnings and shownotes will be available at the end of the transcript.

Admin over: those who listened to the preview of the pilot episode in October may be familiar with the first episode, but tomorrow we will be sharing a fully mastered, polished version of the episode, featuring the orchestrated version of the music and introducing Billie Hindle in the role of Alice. This is a double-length episode, introducing Sam, played by Shahan Hamza, on his first day at a new job at the OIAR. His new co-workers all have their own reasons for working this unusual night job: ambitious Gwen, played by Anusia Battersby, brusque boss Lena, played by Sara Lambie, and obsessive and frustrated IT guy Colin, played by Ryan Hopevere-Anderson.

In the second episode, Sam settles in and Alice gets a call. This episode guest stars Kate Sketchley, who fans may recognise as Riley in our Neon Inkwell show, Of That Colossal Wreck, and Jenny Haufek, who you may know as Hartro in Stellar Firma.

Meanwhile, the public launch is Thursday 18th January at 4pm GMT. Episodes will be available on The Magnus Archives podcast feed. Transcripts will be available for every episode as they’re released on our website.

We’ll be celebrating the launch with a Twitch Stream: join Alex, Jonny and the cast for a Q&A and some games on Thursday at 6pm. As always, make sure you’re following our channel to get a notification as soon as we go live.

As we hinted at last week, we are very excited to say that we are shortly releasing some brand new merchandise items. There will be some The Magnus Protocol designs releasing to our Redbubble, Teepublic and Crowdmade stores on Thursday for t-shirts, stickers and more. Very excitingly, we are really pleased to announce that we will be releasing some wooden dice towers and trays from TTRPG Accessory company, Harps Corp. If you’ve got some RQG dice, or have the Magnus set on the way, soon the perfect Rusty Quill or The Magnus Archives themed accessory will be available. We’ll be sharing more details, photos and a Patreon-exclusive discount code on Monday next week as we launch pre-orders.

Next Monday, we will also be launching pre-orders for a second scent from perfume company, Sucreabeille. We’ve had so many wonderful messages about the first, Jon and Martin themed, scent. Now, we have a somewhat less cosy scent. The Ex Altiora perfume has notes of ozone, reminiscent of the scent of thunderstorms and rain. Once again this perfume will be available in a custom engraved bottle, and additionally a beautiful bespoke box, designed to look like a book. Patreons will get one week early access to pre-order this scent with an exclusive discount code. Once again, we’ll share more details and some photos next week.

Meanwhile, over on the Neon Inkwell feed, we will be sharing a trailer for Inexplicables. As a reminder, Inexplicables is a dark paranormal comedy about a town of vampires, ghouls and zombies, first released in 2021 exclusively here on Patreon.
