The Atelier Tier, Grisaille Sphere Painting, Refined Edition

This is the refined edition of the sphere painting in grisaille lesson. All of the important bits in less than half the time.

By the way: Vimeo, my video hosting platform, has lately had some issues displaying videos across various devices (particularly ipads). If there is some trouble seeing thew video let me know in the comments and I will do what I can to fix it. Otherwise a laptop/desktop is the optimal device to view this on.

There is certainly no magic in oil paint- but it is unique. Following along in acrylic could be done. Many people paint in acrylic successfully. There are also water soluble oil paints... Could be an option. I like oil paint and feel like eventually it is the paint chosen overwhelmingly by representational artists.

Hello Stephen! I'm new here; and a total beginner with any of this. I've only recently resolved to apply myself to the problem of 'cant draw/cant paint'. It's something I've wanted to do all my life more or less, but only now have I finally made it a priority. I have to say, I'm so glad I chose to belong to your Patreon. The depth of knowledge presented here is staggering, it is inestimable/incalculable value being delivered to us all at a ridiculously low price-point. You've done an amazing job bringing the acaemic experience to the confort of our computer screens. Anyhow, thank you so much for delivering such polished such useful material! I am new to the platform so not sure if this 'thread' is closed so to speak cause of the dates of the other posts, or you will see a post here?; So I want to ask a question regarding the 'Grisaille Sphere Painting'; I have never thought to try to work in oil, the only 'art' type of things I've done before has been abstract stuff and acrylic pours; I've never tried to paint 'suff that looks like stuff', but I do have quite a good setup already for working with acrylics. as in, have invested in all the paints/additives/mediums etc.. for working with water-based paint. So FINALLY my actual question, What do you think about the possibility of trying to follow along with any of your tutorials that involve oil painting, but using acrylic paint instead? Can I extract benefit from this activity, or would It be an excercise in futility? I feel that there are certain principles at work here that transcend the medium itself. however there is a bit of dialog at the very end of this video of yourself talking about oil painting itself. Something in your voice, something in the way you said it makes it seem as if there is something magical going on with it? My appologies for such wordiness; there is so much to say and It's difficult to be succinct here and yet set the context as well. Thank you again!

Thank you for a well refined video production! And your pointers on lost edge, value mapping, value spectrum of cast shadow vs form shadow. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
