October Newsletter

Happy October, everyone! I hope you’ve all been well. My past few weeks have been fairly all over the place, and I wanted to drop an update about what I’m up to at the moment - along with my plans for the month and something fun I’d like to engage all of you in over the next few weeks!

Firstly, those who follow me on social media may know that I’m applying for a storyboard training program with Cartoon Network. It’s a fairly exclusive program and I’m not putting much stock in my getting in, though I’m putting my best foot forward regardless. As such I’ve decided to dedicate much of this week preparing to apply - including building a portfolio website, writing a submission essay, and coming up with mock storyboards to show as per their suggestion. Admittedly I’ve always had misgivings using my mature-oriented art for something like this, though the fact of the matter is that’s mostly been my focus for the past few years - and I feel that my artistic ability speaks for itself. So wish me luck and hopefully something good will come out of it!

In the meantime I’ve had to delay opening commissions for October, especially as I’ve yet to finish a couple from my September queue. I’m doing my best to catch up before I reopen again, along with finishing any outstanding Patreon rewards and starting on the next Kayla Komix page. For those looking to commission me, I hope to open again by next week at the earliest!

That said, even though October has only just begun, I wanted to announce my plans for November’s pin-up, and how I’d like to make it something that all my patrons can have a say in. Next month sees the release of the new Pokemon games, so I want to draw another Fouine pin-up to celebrate. I want to finally draw her with a couple of her students, so I’ll be inviting patrons to suggest other Pokemon to be fattened up into strong sumo ladies. I’ll make an official post calling for suggestions at some point next week, and patrons will vote to narrow down the choices by the end of the month. I’m excited to try this out and to draw another nice picture of Fouine, and I hope it’s something fun for all of you as well!

That’s all for now, other than my usual thanks and appreciation for those who continue to support Kayla Komix each month, along with those who have only recently pledged - it always means a lot to me and really goes a long way helping me do all this. I’m still hoping to make that $300 goal and bring you even more Kayla content, but I’m absolutely grateful for what I have in the meantime and look forward to making more this month!

Thanks as always for reading!

- Kyle
