The Blog Is Back
Added 2021-01-09 15:41:34 +0000 UTCI'm back!
Well that was a fun show, don't you think? sorry for the schedule change. Me and Eric are supposed to be doing this commercial and due to Covid spikes in LA, things keep getting pushed and moved around, so my calendar for the month changes every few hours. i know you don't want to hear me complain but it's all getting really exhausting isn't it? I'm really working on trying to stay patient and know this too will pass, but... it can get dispiriting - so if you're feeling that, know that I am too!
I'm starting to work on a new record! I met with Rado a few times over the break and I have a bunch of new songs... some of which you may have heard on one of my live streams. The theme emerging from the songs is: nostalgia. for whatever reason, I've been writing songs about my teenage years and of course as you start writing that inspires more writing: "work begets inspiration" - Macca / It's fun... I'm dialing into very specific memories and moments that I haven't thought about in a while and figuring out how they shaped me.
Peter Arnett in a Bagdad Hotel
Peter Arnett watching Bagdad getting blown to hell
Peter Arnett and Scud Missiles heading for Israel
Should be an easy war to win but you can never tell...
The other thing Rado and I are dialing in on is using the combination of acoustic guitar, piano and a simple Linn Drum Machine to build he basic bones of the track. You know I love a natural classic drummer, but there was something really interesting and fresh about playing with this drum machine that i think it's going to be a big part of this record... it's got a Full Moon Fever/Tunnel of Love vibe going, but I won't be piling on synths or anything like that.
Anyway, hey you got any Qs for me? I'll check in the comments later!
I hope you enjoy Doug's workout!
Peace and Love, T

thanks ! and interesting to hear you found us that way. it was always our dream to have a homebase of all our adult swim stuff to live on an on demand space as well as a streaming experience where it's just "on" all the time, like old TV. we got close, and it was running smooth for a while, but the funding for the entire Adult Swim streams got pulled and any growth or continued maintenance dried up. It's a shame and unfortunatly i think it's reflective of the fact that there'd a very strong, enthusiastic but small audience for all this stuff, and it's never been a high priority for folks focused on launching the latest Wonder Woman or whatever. peace!

2021-01-12 01:25:33 +0000 UTCHere’s a question I’ve been meaning to ask but I just haven’t chased you down for it. I really found you and Eric through the Channel 5 “stream” or “subchannel” on the Adult Swim app. (I’ve never been a cable subscriber.) Whose idea was it to agglomerate all things Tim and Eric on a rolling channel of its own, with a bunch of new material (I Love David, Our Bodies, and interstitials/channel bumps)? If Warner/Turner/whoever the hell it is these days feels the need to paywall everything under HBO Max, which seems to be the writing on the wall, I’d be happy to pay the Max price in order to continue to be able to jump on Channel 5 at random.
