Fixing the Taz 6

If you missed it Joel Telling with the help of the evil Dave Randolph sent me his original Taz 6. Shipping was rough and broke the stock extruder body and mounting plate.

What’s interesting is how the swappable hotends work on the Taz printers. It had a huge carriage with basically a French cleat that holds the extruder body in place while only needing one screw to attach the entire setup together. It’s sadly a loose fit so fast movement will definitely make the extruder rock a bit but from what I’ve come to understand is that you just don’t make it go fast.

My next challenge is to make an Ideamaker profile for the printer and run some test prints. Thankfully my buddy Dan who lives 10 minutes away accidentally bought some 2.85mm filament and dropped it off for my use. I also found a 2.85mm spool of Algix algae based filament I got sent incorrectly to me.

Now to see what a $4000 commercial grade printer can do. 🙈
