Apple users & Update
Added 2024-11-02 21:05:25 +0000 UTCHey All!
Just as a reminder for those who use the Patreon app on their iOS (Apple) product--new members will be charged a 30% App store fee starting in November. This doesn't apply to existing patrons, but those who leave and rejoin in future.
I was told by one of the patrons that there is a way around this--that you can log onto the Patreon website through a desktop and not use the app on your phone? I just wanted to remind everyone since that fee is going to start being applied this month.
Also, make sure you join Discord! We have readers on there from Patreon and Ream. Link is in the chat since my Patreon feed is uploaded on other sites.
Summary of October:
I cannot believe it's November! Where's the time gone? OMG.
Bitter Confessions has officially been out in the world for a full month! Thank you to everyone who left reviews and recommended the series to other readers!
I've been sending out signed paperbacks. Handling hefty stacks of the series makes me beam like a proud mama every time. Seeing another book in the series makes me so happy! I've fulfilled all paperback orders for Super Patrons and readers who placed orders. If you haven't received yours, please message me or if you'd like to order some, here's the form.
I mentioned in the other update what I've been up to since the release--business and family stuff. October was an extremely hectic month with the tail end of my release, friends and family visiting, birthdays, and many other things. I didn't get much rest, but I'm hoping to in November.
I was re-reading my book, Corrupt Idol by Dinah Harper to ready it for audio. I cleaned it up a bit, republished it, and received an email from Amazon that they were taking down the paperback. I was also booted from Barnes&Noble, Apple, and a bunch of other retailers.
Overall, this has been an eye-opening month with Amazon India refusing to release Bitter Confessions (I was also told the paperback was pulled in France) and now this. The selective censorship really aggravates me and has made me wonder if I'll be available at all on retailers in the future.
This has gave me some food for thought. Should I continue writing the way I do or should I curb my stories so I'm available on the market? Fortunately, or unfortunately, I'm stubborn and born rebellious so I'm going to continue writing the way I want, even if that makes it harder for me to sell my work. I write to express myself and I don't think I should have to tone myself down in a fictional work. I have faith that my stories will find their audience.
When I read Corrupt Idol, within the first chapter, I found myself thinking that I could write a short prequel. I've always shied away from that, though, because things start getting sexual when she's 16 and he's 17 and the whole damn thing is a minefield of triggers. However, with me getting banned, I realize that if the story's bound to be shunned anyway, I should write it the way I want and hopefully readers will still look for it and buy it directly from me on my site or read directly on Patreon or Ream or something. (But this could possibly get me banned from Patreon, so prob not).
Anyway, that's what I'm doing. I still haven't quite built up my emotional stamina since the end of BC and the beginning of book 4 is worse than the end of Bitter Secrets and beginning of BC combined, so I'm doing a palette cleanser with the prequel for Corrupt Idol. I'm indulging my inner freak and going as dark as I want. My Dinah Harper side is more experimental and an outlet for me to let off steam in between my long-running series as Mia. I also don't feel the need to be as professional there since it's not my main name? I won't do all the fanfare for releases or anything like that. I'll prob get away with just proofreaders instead of hiring and waiting for an editor to go through it. I'll write and release the book this month? Or write it, let it sit, go back to the Singed Series and release early December? We'll see.
This prequel is already surprising the heck out of me, as all stories do. I didn't know I was going to do this, but the book is almost exclusively from the male's POV, which is actually helpful because when I switch back the Singed Series, I'll be starting with Roth's POV. Writing the prequel is kind of a throwback to the early days of me writing. No one knows what I'm doing and there's no expectations for this book. I've been enjoying myself. I was expecting the prequel to be just pure, dark smut but there's more story than I was anticipating and a bit of heart as well. This is, however, the early stages and I'm expecting the back half to be pure non con... I'm 15k into this story. Hoping it doesn't go over 50k? I'm hoping to wrap it up in 2 weeks and then I'll go back to the Singed Series.
I won't be posting any snippets for the Singed Series this month. I'll let you all know when I'm back at it! Patrons will get the prequel ahead of the public. You guys can be my proofreaders. Not sure if that will be this month or next... I'll announce on here and Discord for those who are interested.
Anyway, that's my update. If anyone has any questions, let me know!
