Continuation of flashback leading up to first time...

“What are you…?” she began and froze when he dipped his head and his lips touched hers.

The slightly rough texture of his lips made her heart stutter. He explored the shape of her mouth with gentle, teasing kisses, gauging her reaction. He wasn’t touching her in any other way. Even though she was backed against the counter, she didn’t feel threatened or scared.

Her mind couldn’t process what was happening. She assumed he saw her as a little sister and forced her to think of him as an older brother so she wouldn’t spin any romantic tales around him. That didn’t pertain to her stories, though, where her heroine and his fictional counterpart were deep in a forbidden romantic tryst. The fact that her fantasy had materialized in real life stunned her into immobility.

Both of their eyes were open, staring at one another as he slanted his mouth over hers. Her eyelids felt heavy, but she fought the pull, not fully giving into the undertow of physical sensation just yet.

“Open your mouth,” he said against her lips.

She wanted to. She wanted to so desperately, she trembled. His mouth left hers and nibbled along her jawline.

“Roth.”

Her voice shook with want, with things she couldn’t have.

“Yes, princess?”

When he sucked on the hinge of her jaw, her knees went weak. “We…”

“Let me taste you,” he whispered against her ear.
