She confirmed she was in active labor before he turned the phone off though so technically he has no excuses - def can't say he didn't know it was for real. Even if he'd made it back late, I'm sure his wife would've appreciated the effort. I couldn't imagine going through labor without my husband by my side. I had 2 emergency C-sections after lengthy labors, so you honestly never know what could happen during a delivery.

He shouldn’t have turned the phone off. The rest is understandable. She hsd the baby early and he thought they were clear, he thought she was having Braxton hicks, phone turn off (the major mistake). And he pretty much said the same thing as James did about “if I miss this and it’s Braxton hicks…”. That being said he was a a-hole for turning the phone off. Now to be fair to the guy on top of that the Eclipse only lasted 4 1/2 minutes so even if he rushed back he likely shows up what 35 minutes earlier and the baby is born before he gets their still the same. So he still missed the birth but also misses the eclipse 😂 Especially if by the time he got there the kid was already born which suggest c section or birth was fast. So only if he hadn’t turned off his phone but that was the dick move, but I doubt anybody else sees it that way in the family. Then again premature birth( so risks involved) so I also get their seething hate towards the guy in the end

My brother in law was in the hospital every day with his partner and their prem son. He was with her til she came home from hospital, she had complications before, during and after labour. He could have lost them BOTH. He would be happier having beef with his partner rather then come back to both of them gone and he wasnt there when she needed him.

The issue is, there's a chance that baby could've been a still born, or could've died within the first 24hrs. Third dilemma. The boyfriend is an addict. I know this from experience (also I’m in the field of psychology, so I speak from expertise). Messaging the mother, although done in haste, is probably going to be a good thing to help get the boyfriend into rehab or at least give a wake up call to him and his family that he’s addicted. Lying about drug use, using before work, and using every weekend are one huge red flag. If this were alcohol, everyone would be able to see that he’s an alcoholic. This is no different.
