May '25 Situation Report

Hey all,

It's been a bit since I've done one of these, and I've been putting this one off for too long. Now, don't freak out too bad, because I'm not dropping Nero or anything. However, I have been falling further and further behind on the chapters as I'm sure many of you have noticed.

I'd like to be able to claim some serious health problem, or even offer you a cool story about being arrested at the border after a bachelor party or something. But, I can't. Honestly, work has just been kicking my ass.

Over the time I've been doing this, I've also found myself taking longer and longer to finalize my chapters. Maybe it's just me being picky, or an improved desire to polish what I've written, but I can't just churn out chapters like I used to. I'm finding it difficult to hint at so many different things while trying not to be too long winded. Which harshly contradicts with my tendency to write about interactions rather than just writing paragraphs of 'this happened' and then 'that happened'. And I really don't want to end up having chapters read like summaries of an adventure people would like to read about.

Regardless, the point is that I'm going to be altering the release schedule for the Royal Road down to one chapter a week. I'm doing specifically so I can catch up to the number of chapters for you guys that I'm behind on.

I'll still try to be releasing at least three chapters a week for patreon, along with throwing up all the backlogs of other stuff that I haven't been able to work on. I'm fully aware that you'd likely rather have Nero chapters, but I just haven't written them yet.

For all of you who've stuck around, I'm eternally grateful. I'm going to be doing my best to rededicate my free time to this, as writing is really what I would like to be doing. So, if you're willing, please stick around and give me a chance to catch up.

I'm also considering hosting a chat or something on the discord that nobody, me included, never uses. Maybe on a weekend or something, so people can ask me questions about stuff they've been wondering about. If that interests anybody, feel free to send me a dm about it.

But, for the time being, chapters for the mage tier will be barely ahead of the adept tier. Hopefully, by next week, it'll be a few chapters ahead. In the meantime, I'm hoping not everyone abandons me for greener pastures. Up until now, you've all been kind enough to cut me some slack. And like I said, I'm ever grateful for it.
