You know, I wasn't really sure how things would work out for us in the Pandemic Times—I still don't have a clear sense of when I'll be able to record with Bob in person again—but much to my surprise the need to podcast remotely at all times has actually been somewhat liberating. I've been able to tackle a lot of subjects and speak with a lot of different people who might not otherwise be accessible for the show, which... I don't know, it seems like backward logic a bit, but it's true.
This time around, I chatted with Danny Russell from Sega's European arm, who has played a major role in changing the focus of Sega Forever. The platform didn't impress many when it debuted a few years ago, but it's definitely improved over time, and that's down to the involvement of people like Danny, who has a genuine passion for classic games and great Sega properties (even the esoteric ones).
Then we have Mohammed Taher, founder of game music label BraveWave Records, talking not about his business but rather the game that helped inspire the creation of BraveWave in the first place: Tecmo's Captain Tsubasa series for Famicom. They're pretty fascinating games, transforming a manga-based soccer sim into, essentially, role-playing games. Complete with some incredible soundtracks, of course!
All that and another great cover illustration by Amanda Pruitt. What more could you ask for?
