The Manifesto - A Massive Just Roll With It Update

Big update today, JRWIENERS! (are we really calling you that forever?)
(are you sure??)

We pivoted from our last update quite abruptly, but this will catch you up on the new direction we're heading. JRWI is about to get a serious level up, but know we will continue to be the same dumbass (powerful) show you've come to enjoy.

Please watch the whole update before commenting, and remember to be respectful.

If you’re just concerned about the lack of new content recently for $5 patrons (or just at all) and don’t want to read a full explanation, skip to the bottom part of my reply. You do not have to do so. I think they get a little more money from website members (because Patreon takes a cut) but there’s a number of people (myself included) who would find the website less convenient than Patreon (for me, I listen on drives or at work and so comparatively janky mobile in-browser listening just isn’t a good way to experience it). Regardless, they tend to promote the website more than the Patreon nowadays so that’s basically just their default way of referring to all patrons between both sites. They won’t be dropping support for Patreon and they — or at least some of them — still check Patreon comments (if you listened to the Judgement Q&A, Condi mentioned someone pointing out a strong resemblence of a certain video game boss in the BBEG fight at the end of the campaign; that was me, he even responded to that comment). If the reason you’re asking is because of the infrequent posts lately, that’s because they’re changing up the format. They didn’t actually specify this (which was a big mistake imo) but based on how the first 2 episodes of Riptide’s return are releasing for patrons on the same day (and how TMK is uploading weekly on YouTube), it seems like the main (YouTube) campaign will now upload weekly, and we’ll still get Rolled. There’s no longer gonna be any Patreon exclusive campaigns (I’m actually a little concerned about how they’re going to handle The Suckening Season 2 and Prime Defenders Season 3 since this will presumably mean that those will be getting uploaded to YouTube before those can happen, but if they only upload one episode per week then that’d be a whole year of no new weekly or biweekly content for patrons, so I’m hoping they upload those to YouTube at the same time as Riptide or whatever comes next). $5 patrons will get 1 monthly exclusive episode which will be supplementary/side content like Unwitness Protection Program, in addition to getting YouTube content one week early. Ofc this sounds like a worse deal than an exclusive episode every other week, and you will be getting fewer exclusive episodes, but you will actually be getting more episodes overall (4 YouTube episodes + 1 patron episode per month versus the old 2 YouTube episodes + 2 patron episodes). The reason we haven’t been getting many new uploads lately is explained in this video — Grizzly got sick and they weren’t able to record Riptide. Riptide returns in November. Things will be a little dry until then if you’ve already listened to TMK (although the YouTube version has new visuals which is fun) but we’ll get another Unwitness Protection Program episode before then and then we’ll be chilling. Hang in there!

Friendly reminder, Grizzly DM my beautiful baby boy, that they have a huge loan to pay off when the show starts back up! It’s been a year now probably! (Ep. 85-86)

Hopefully someone could help me with this but do us paying Patreon members (5$ tier) have to move over to the website? Is there any sort of transfer for that? I bought the full year subscription only a couple months ago…

I’m guessing it’ll largely be stuff that relates to campaigns without requiring that characters be reverted to a previous point — for instance, the upcoming Wiwi oneshot doesn’t require them to remember the state of things at whatever point because it predates anything they actually played out in PD. So we might get more character backstory oneshots, perhaps oneshots that take place after the end of campaigns, or maybe something taking place in an unvisited part of a world. Or something else; it’s hard to say right now.

I agree 100%

Love you guys but as a 5 dollar audio listener for like 2 years all this does is remove additional campaign content, delay everything, go on another hiatus, and ask for the same amount of money. Additionally, with in person shoots going in bunches, what happens when other people get sick or have conflicts that delays content even more or reduces the amount of you in episodes or cancels complete sessions altogether forcing online recordings for those bunches which is back to square one with less content. Idk man. Also just like business wise you gotta see that reducing content with hiatuses and indefinite delays is going to hurt momentum and most likely reduce your common patron base which is what funds a majority of the show most likely. With the amount of patrons I feel like it’s not crazy to expect a pipeline with hard dates that is widely accessible to your paying audience.

I've already watched this a while ago but I just thought of this right now: I'm curious how these new one-shots that complement the other campaigns will work for you guys in terms of actually creating the content. I mean, the concept is pretty similar to the Just Roll What Ifs but I recall in a previous patreon update that those got cancelled because they were hard to do, because of how they made you guys have to rewind in the stories & they were just generally inconvenient to make. I don't know... I'm really excited for the future of JRWI don't get me wrong, I'm just worried about if this will last.

THIS IS SO HYPE!!!!! (Also damn the universe really wants to delay Riptide lmao)
