Chapter 12 Status Report (6)

As I said in the last report, I planned work on this next chapter in two blocks; the first one encompassing two in-game days and the second one a third day. I've finished writing the first block and I'm now playtesting and polishing things. The art for this first block is also nearly finished, and I'm now waiting for the final illustrations from the colorist to finish them up.

I've finished all Emma's scenes, and I believe her fans will be pretty happy with them! Holly fans will also get some nice content, and there's also something you might not expect, but I've tried to push the scenes to new heights.

Since I'm close to finishing this first block, I've been seriously considering releasing this part of the chapter once it's ready, while continue working on the second block. The scope and depth of chapters keep increasing, and the usual release structure hasn't been working as I'd like anymore. On one hand, I'd like to release the summer house event in one package, but development time is a constant issue and the pressure to release keeps mounting as weeks go by. I'm eager to share content with you, and I think there's enough in this first block o justify a release, even if it's not how I'd ideally pictured things. There are important scenes in the second block that I want to realize properly, and planning, writing and testing all the possible paths that have to be developed and implemented is an extensive and intensive task.

While I'm testing this first block I continue to work on the second one, and some art for it is already finished. I expect to be done with the testing next week, and I could have a working Alpha before the last week of this month. What do you think? Are you eager to join Ian and the others in their summer retreat?

I agree with splitting the release. That's a great picture of Emma. I hope you're doing well.

VHO

Release now. Please think of the elderly 😁

Johnathan F. Krapsinski

Expect more story of Stan.

Yao-Chang Yang

I wouldn’t mind waiting for a full-chapter release to get a more complete experience (i’m a big fan of AOIAF, so i learned it the hard way), but i undestand not everybody is so patient.

Mr.x

And... why not a Lena DAPd or, more surprisingly, the hot Cindy?!

LucaPL81

Pls, give her DAPs

LucaPL81

Love Emma!

LucaPL81

This is a pretty good point! Folks who don't want more frequent updates can wait whereas the more frequent updates folks can get some content.

Homewa

I'd say releasing two day blocks sounds like about the right kind of update release. That's a meaningful amount of content in this game! Also that lets you get feedback before you're too far along. And that lets you release updates more frequently. I don't know if I'd release smaller than that. Maybe as like a teaser for something really big.

Homewa

Do it Eva. Unleash Emma ♡

ZeroOne

You have shared multiple times that you get most satisfaction from releasing updates so I’d say go for it if you feel it’s a at good stopping point for a release. It sounds like it will be plenty to keep us entertained.

Rubicon

Either way is okay. Do whatever you want. But minor upgrades gives me the excuse to play the chapter several times. So I would vote for a two blocks.

Pär Åkermark

I'm okay with whatever you decide to do. I'm always eager for new stuff, and if you want to do this chapter in two blocks, then definitely do it in two blocks. But please don't feel pressure from us about releasing. We know you're still working, and most of us have some concept of how difficult it is to make a game that has as many complicated decisions in it as ORS does. Do what feels right to you.

John

this code makes me feel so dizzy, help me :Plzzz def 1(): print("Better and Stronger: Unleash thy Power!") def 2(): print("Stop the command,You need more fans to cool down") def choose_option(): option = int(input("Choose an option: ")) if option == a: print("Birds aren't real.") elif option == b: print("Good girl gone bad.") elif option == c: print("Les Larmes de la Demoiselle.") elif option == d: print("A short romantic trip for eva, mua") def 3(): print("Slow and steady always make great loading! Level up! yeah!.") def finish(): print("Love ya Eva,i am on your side 2027.Eva forever.") print("Ian is naked,I have found Lena. Can I kiss you Eva?") print("wee"":P") # process command 1() 2() choose_option() 3() finish()

as_fuck

😂

Kurt Wagner

Eh you’d be waiting just as long to play Lena either way. The only difference is whether you have to wait to play Ian’s part

Kurt Wagner

Imo share the first block once it’s ready! Keeping steady releases is important imo even if they’re not a full chapter

Kurt Wagner

Unlike many other developers, you always put in a lot of time and effort and updates are fairly meaty and on a fairly regular schedule. You've earned our trust that you aren't just sitting on your hands, so I'm with all the voices saying 'take the time you need to produce the release you want'.

Absinthe

So it's an Ian update? Two in a row for him. Definitely release what's good for the the game/yourself, but this was the concern i had with a dual protagonist game with each getting an equal share as rule, and with splitting updates. Likely, some people were going to get 'set aside' at times. IIRC the poll results correctly, most people, in this case. But that makes it sound worse than it is. Some more waiting isn't the end of the world.

bos

You should definitely release what you have if it helps take pressure off your mind. Those who want to play it in one block can always wait.

Ffr0v

pro-release the first block

Briz

I say hell yeah release it!

Gmoney

Also, do what is right, not what is easy. And if anyone gives you a hard time about release schedule, call them out here and your fans will blast them. Haha

Jono Say

Emma looks like YeahMad's Abby in that pic. Or maybe Different Abby

Jono Say

Hi Eva, I'm down with most of the patrons here, you shouldn't feel pressured by our eagerness to see what's awaiting us in the beach house. Even if you release it as you planned in two or three times, there will always be some unsatisfied. As Hog-Monter says, if you feel that it will relieve some pressure on you by releasing the first block, so do it. Really it's up to you.

7RD4NR

Great to hear you're making so much progress! My preference is for smaller updates more frequently, rather than larger ones less frequently, but if you think the story and game will be better served if this whole section releases at the same time I'm happy to wait. Whatever you decide to do, I hope the next section will be less difficult for you!

Dorian Wainwright

I concur with many of the comments which express that you should do what you want to do and don't feel pressured by the community. I do have a caveat about part releases in that you may not want to be distracted by 'bug fixes' from the 'Alpha' while you work on the next part. The main benefit I see is some immediate feedback from the dedicated ORS fanbase on how the story is progressing (altho this can descend to the level of a straw poll popularity contest at times imo) Whatever you decide I feel sure it will surpass your previous efforts :)

Andros123

What is most important is that you take some time to meditate on Cindy's yellow tube top and white skirt outfit, which you should totally reconsider and include in the game.

Eponymous

Let me join the chorus of people saying that my preference is for you to proceed with whatever is best for you. This game is stellar and my absolute favorite and the player base seems to share my opinion. I have no doubts about you continuing to work on the project and am fine since it is either a bit more content now and later or a big helping of stuff in a little while. I'm not sure if there are other people putting pressure on you to release more content soon, but from the comments on this post it looks like we're largely fine with you taking time if you need it. It's hard but try not to worry too much that you're taking too long.

Eponymous

We know you work hard on these updates and can't wait to see more. :)

Redkahn

Honestly, it's not important what we want, but what YOU want to do. If you feel that releasing the update in two parts will relieve the pressure on yourself and allow you the breathing room and headspace to develop a better second part then absolutely do it. If some Patrons don't want to play it in two parts the option is there to wait and play both parts together at a later date.

Hog-Monster

what would you say the wait would be? for 2 blocks are we talking a couple of weeks or months and do you have a good point where you can stop or dose it just end... An example being Ian and Holly or Lena are right in the middle of a big talk and it just fade to black. because that is where you have programed out to that doesn't make much sense in my book to release that way.

Dewboy101

I'm going to wait until both blocks are finished before updating 👍

Valoris

Eager for content I'd say hell yeah let's have it. But also as you already kinda release in chunks Ian vs Lena route, d say there's even more logic to release. And if it also take some of the pressure off your shoulders, then that is the best argument for. But in the end I say, do what you feel is best for you.

Yepthatguy

Yaaaay so excited, this has convinced me to replay and have some fun with Emma, ready for the new content hehe. Amazing work as always Eva

Samantha

I don't mind a full release instead of 2 blocks

gem dragon

Hey Eva, sounds very exciting and the anticipation increases! Publish it as it suits you! Whether in two steps or in one chapter. If you are satisfied with your work, we have more fun to play! ⚜️😎

Yeah !! Summer Fun /o/
