2024-09-04 21:14:47 +0000 UTCthis episode is teaaaa, iâve despised Marvel for years for these exact reasons. my bf and his brother were rlly into Marvel (still are, but theyâre finally getting sick of it), will watch every video game and comic book movie/TV adaptation, it drives me nuts. this is prob too mean to say to their faces, but i fully believe they donât respect themselves as consumers of art bc they waste their time and money on that shit lmao

2024-09-04 16:43:31 +0000 UTCJust got to where Kay said she probably wonât read Dune and thought I would speak my piece. You guys should absolutely read Dune. Itâs one of those situations where watching the movie/ being familiar with it beforehand enhances your reading by making the culture/terminology of this world feel less overwhelming. I love the movies but thereâs a lot of characters who I feel arenât done justice like how theyâre written in the books especially Dr Yeuh and Lady Jessica. Having a character where her skill is studying peopleâs language and behavior and looking into their minds doesnât translate as well onto film, but Lady Jessica is one of the most interesting characters I think in any sci fi novel iâve ever read. And Dr Yeuh creates such an interesting dynamic with the Atreides knowing there is a traitor amongst them but not being able to identify who. I was honestly shocked this plot line wasnât present in the movie at all because itâs a huge part of the book and causes a lot of fighting and mistrust amongst the Atreides. Itâs definitely worth it and donât let the people that say theyâre too much of a task fool you.
