I also haven't seen this show but I remember thinking "oh is this some American Horror Story type thing" when I saw clips from it and being surprised that the cult stuff was apparently not the focus

2024-04-15 17:05:52 +0000 UTCHonestly, I thought the first season was pretty good overall, and the present day portions became my favorite part because we weren't focused on slowly introducing the things revealed at the end and beginning of the pilot. The adult actresses are great and the season mines some great material from a blackmail plot that I originally was skeptical of. Nevertheless, the second season was much more mixed. The show pretty much gets right to the edge of revealing whether anything supernatural happened and pulls back just so they can supposedly answer it in a final season. It also feels like the adult versions of the characters have their stories wrapped up while the teenage versions of the cast have nothing promising left to do. They do get more into the cult stuff, but there is still so much time left before they are found that I expect they will have to do another time skip in the past. Unless they seriously think they can go on longer than one more season.
