Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

What a Ben thing to say

Ben Fairbank

How much you all didn’t like this is wild

Adam Brown

the fact they didn't even mention the A Little Too Raph bit is criminal

Jon Ryves

probably the biggest letdown of an ep since Tomorrow Never Dies

Jon Ryves

I think the “Secret” was supposed to be that the scientists were going to end up being the alien brain monsters in disguise that were creating the ooze but then they cut out that story line.

Anthony Viscito

>_> Turtles in Time gonna drop?

Tyler Duggan

It a trope with a lot of movies. Any time a super strong character grabs someone by the neck instead of punching them or stangling them they throw them. And not straight into the ground but this long lifting toss so the hero can roll thru or slide safely.

John Blood

What's that? David was blatantly wrong about the events of a movie?

John Blood

The criticisms are valid but there's no way they can meme so hard about the dumb Croc Dundee 2 dynamite fishing scene and not find a single source of joy in all the very dumb stuff TMNTII has.

Jeremy Jones

FYI to the boys, specifically David…Patrick Bergin’s character in Lawnmower Man 2 is not supposed to be the same character Pierce Brosnan played in the first.

Nick Panico

I still have such nostalgia blinders on for this movie! I know it’s not “good,” but I can’t see past how 14-year-old me felt about it.

David Draper

Yeah, David is usually confidently incorrect.

John Blood

Necessary Roughness is a Ben movie

Sam Read

Same here. I think at some point during my adolescence, I realized that the first one was better, but by that point the second was burned into my brain. So even just out of pure nostalgia, I like this movie and could still remember the inflection of the line reads.

Chase Janak

Just talked with my mom about taking me and my dumbass friends to this as 7 year olds. Started a great hour long conversation tonight. BC bringing families together ❤️

Jordan Garner

One of the rare sequels that take place like the following day after the first movie

Patrick Mike

It’s wild to hear about how much worse than the first one the second one is, when the second one was easily my favorite as a child.

T

…teasing this movie because its villains can only throw the heroes around while not mentioning the same problem in Terminator Salvation is pretty funny…

Podcast Enjoyer

…pretty sure Bebop and Rocksteady weren’t used due to a licensing issue…like, they’d have to pay extra to use those characters…

Podcast Enjoyer

You can introduce Bebop and Rocksteady without Dimension X. Shredder creates them.

Hangtime

David singing the theme over and over made me realize it’s just a soundalike for “Weird Science”?

DJV

When my brother and I started taking karate in, like, 4th grade, our sensei put us on the schedule as "Foote Clan". It made me extremely happy then and it still does

Adam Foote

Am I the only one who feels like Hosley is eclipsing the two friends? Like when urkle took over family matters? #Hospod

Bart Simpson first said “Cowabunga” in the short “Skateboarding” airing Feb 7 1988. The Ninja Turtles said it December 17 1987. It was in the zeitgeist. Bart Simpson’s blue shirt was not solely used by bootleggers. I have a set of Simpsons postcards from 1990 and Bart has a blue shirt. Also his secret best friend is his skateboard… the merch people had maybe 10 episodes to draw from. Bebop and Rocksteady’s origins have little to nothing to do with Krang or Dimension X. They were Shredder’s goons and he experimented on them with the mutagen. All things considered, they seem to deal with being transformed into animal-human monstrosities quite well. I remember seeing that the Tonka/Rahzar swap had to do with ownership over comics characters vs. characters from the cartoon. I personally think Tonka and Rahzar are awesome. They’re babies. They call Shredder “mama.” Makes me laugh.

Ben: “Who is in the lab at night?” Me chuckling to myself as I listen to this at 9pm while sitting in my lab staring down the barrel of 10 hour shift ahead of me.

Brandon Skidmore

Yep I heard it again and he did.

Chauncey Telese

Griffin mentioned her very briefly

Lobo

You could do that Ben, or you could sew the vintage bedding into the lining of a coat

Bonesaw Greene

This is the one I remember and I’ve seen the most. It was my favorite kid movie. Fond fond memories hhahahaha!!

MonoStereoVideo

Does Ben listen to Drug Church? Question related to turtle bedsheets

Stan

They missed Susie essman greeting April outside the building.

Chauncey Telese

Wish they would have used the ooze on Vanilla Ice. Feel like that was a missed opportunity. Could you imagine mutant Vanilla Ice doing the ninja rap? Would bump it up a star for me

Refridganinja

Thank God for Ben expressing exactly my thoughts about Bebop, Rocksteady, and the stupid change in April actresses

Jeff Brax

This ep has me really itching for a Power Rangers theatrical movie series. Give me commentaries for Mighty Morphin, Turbo, and 2017 reboot

Mike R

I don’t know what Ben is talking about lol that was a blast 😂

Ancient alien

Casual spoilers for TMNT The Last Ronin #1

Matt Skoufalos

This is our generation's "wizard of oz" film.

Tom

I fucking love this TMNT sequel. COMBAT COLD CUTS!!!

Tom

At eight, this was the first movie in the theater that I saw by myself as the rest of my family wanted to see something else at the multiplex. A true milestone in my life.

John Damer

I first saw this movie because I dressed as Raphael for Halloween, and someone gave me this on vhs instead of candy while trick or treating. Such a great memory 🐢

fine cup of coffee

This movie was a 10/10 for me in 1992 😂

Ancient alien

is that Jere Burns playing splinter in this one?

Andrew Morgan

To this day these suits are hands down the best! This was always my favorite one as a kid while my older brother loved the first one lol which makes sense looking back now I was 5 he was 9 😂

Ancient alien

I mean, this is really making me want to hit up the Power Rangers spot and get a real 90s-ass smoothie, the most non-green juice you’ve ever seen, no defense against the stop-drinking-your-calories allegations

Rad Rodge

My mom took my sister and I to see the first TMNT movie twice on accident, because we lived in a small town with a second-run theater that was always very late to the party. None of us noticed until about 30 mins in when my older sis asked, "so where's the ooze?"

Katie Herrmann

COMBAT COLD CUTS!!! YAYAYAYAYA

Joon Kim

GO NINJA GO NINJA GO

Jordan B. Anderson

Ninja Rap by Vanilla Ice is still a bop.
