2024-05-02 04:59:38 +0000 UTCBart Simpson first said “Cowabunga” in the short “Skateboarding” airing Feb 7 1988. The Ninja Turtles said it December 17 1987. It was in the zeitgeist. Bart Simpson’s blue shirt was not solely used by bootleggers. I have a set of Simpsons postcards from 1990 and Bart has a blue shirt. Also his secret best friend is his skateboard… the merch people had maybe 10 episodes to draw from. Bebop and Rocksteady’s origins have little to nothing to do with Krang or Dimension X. They were Shredder’s goons and he experimented on them with the mutagen. All things considered, they seem to deal with being transformed into animal-human monstrosities quite well. I remember seeing that the Tonka/Rahzar swap had to do with ownership over comics characters vs. characters from the cartoon. I personally think Tonka and Rahzar are awesome. They’re babies. They call Shredder “mama.” Makes me laugh.
