Relistening to this in the hellscape that is 2025, wondering: will Spielberg finally get to make a Bond film?

Scott Marshall

What I heard, Ben: She just picked the lover’s cardigan.

Tony Jennaway

the best bond themes are all from brosnan tbh

Austin McDougle

David is so right about the Lazenby movie. That thing slaps on every level

Josh Burcham

Dudes rock

Étienne Fillion-Sauvé

We agree with David about FROM RUSSIA - it’s my favorite Connery. I confess that the Bond I’ve seen more than any other is THUNDERBALL.

Dean Eaton

This is my favorite Bond movie.

Adam

Casino royale IS the BEST

Jack o Diamonds

Y’all gonna have to talk about cannonball run, and Hal needham and how smoky and the b was inspired by the Moore bonds! whoo! 70s!

Jack o Diamonds

David, you are correct in saying "From Russia with Love" is the best Bond movie.

JS

Wow, speaking of racist Sheriffs, Griffin is really trying to police the possum presence in Brooklyn bars. I think it might be time for someone to watch Zootopia again!

Nicole Journal

Diamonds Are Forever was Connery’s last OFFICIAL Bond film. Never Say Never Again wasn’t made by Eon studios or produced by the Broccolis. So it does and it doesn’t count as a Bond film.

Spencer Kindra

I'm pretty sure that David says that Diamonds are forever is Connery's last bond film and I had to question whether "Never Say Never Again" was a weird fever dream I had. It kind of is.

Max

13 Days of 007 on TBS? My dad and I watched James Bond movies in the 90s this way.

JS

Has anyone watched these since they were 12? This should be fascinating. 😂

Chris Fyvie

I love that Ben has "spent time in Florida"

Billnetherlands

I can't believe it took them this many episodes before they finally got to breaking down the Wacky Races teams.

Chris Hubbard

lol. "James Bond is the ultimate honky"

Billnetherlands

Moore is my favorite Bond. Make Bond fun again!

Sarah Palmer

Noooo all of the Moore Bonds are leaving Prime at the end of the month

Omeed

As a KJB patron I feel like I'm really well prepared for these commentaries let's gooooo

Lenny

SECRET AGENT?!?? On WHOSE SIDE?!? Comedy sherif fucks, the two friends are wrong

Nicholas Ouchie

This was already a top-tier commentary AND THEN David starts reading the descriptions of all of the Wacky Racers which rocketed it into Top 5 territory.

Tobey

David did you get the Last Action Hero steelbook??

Colin

“James Bond shoots toward the reader.” —Hosley, Ben Hosley

Tom Lowery

Sorry, I will never ever get over “I loved Wacky Racists.”

John Halski

They trash View to a Kill so much, but as an ‘82 baby it was my jam, killer set pieces and Walken is at a 10

Will Rogers

Great trivia. Didn’t he compose the theme for Jason Lives, which opens with Jason doing a parody of the gun barrel sequence?

Tiago Augusto Souza Barreiro

It’s just so funny that this movie goes with blaxploitation, because if you asked me to draw a picture of a capital-h “Honky” I’d draw roger moore

Gwen “Zootown” Nicholson

The idea that someone could watch The Kingsmen at that point in Matthew Vaughn’s career and think he is the next Paul Verhoeven and playing “twelve-dimensional chess” 😂

j0hnb0t

I’m pretty sure it’s from the poster for Ace Ventura 2. It may also be in the movie, but I’ve never actually seen it

Alex London

was the crocodile waterskiiing memory perhaps a misremembered Ace Rimmer sequence from Red Dwarf?

Seán Óg Murphy

Looking forward to this series as someone who feels like a Bond expert merely through listening to the James Bonding podcast (but who hasn’t seen all that many of the movies). Also “Adam Driver’s upset” made me laugh like an idiot.

Richard Copping

Great bit from Ben about the gun barrel sequence being written out in the Fleming novels

Michael Hashizume

Alice Cooper was approached for a Bond theme that was rejected and ended up on his album "Muscle of Love"

Billnetherlands

Thank you David for confirming that from Russia With Love is the best Connery film!

Jake Gittes

Just a correction; Sam Smith gets referred to here as “he” when Sam now identifies as “they/them”. I’m sure this wasn’t intentional, but just for future reference.

Edward Savoy

Not quite. That scene takes place in Russia, but Corrine works for the Canadian government.

Murpheus

I have to say I'm delighted by this. I mean, these films are wildly sexist, possibly racist etc but equally I grew up with these Moore Bond films. Yup, I'm old. So I'm looking forward to revisiting these guilty pleasures!

Damimoon Sunbeam

Bond was in Canada briefly in the last scene of Quantum of Solace. He was unmasking Vesper’a boyfriend Yussef, who was honeypotting another intelligence officer, Corrine.

Tiago Augusto Souza Barreiro

David describing British good looks around the 34 minute mark. Gold.

Jamesdillenbeck

Allegedly Danny Boyle left No Time To Die because he didn’t want Bond to die at the end, and Craig did.

Tiago Augusto Souza Barreiro

Just watched it for the first time last month (on Criterion Channel right now) and it blew my mind. I'd never heard of it before and I was like "how have I not watched this 100 times in my life already?" It is maybe 20 minutes too long, but Lemmon, Wood and Peter Falk are all amazing. It's a live action cartoon, and just a delight.

Graig Kent

The Great Race (1965) starring Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Natalie Wood is a great Wacky Races prototype. Lemmon is basically Snidely Whiplash, complete with a villainous mustache, and Curtis and Wood are essentially Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop. Not sure if it holds up but I remember it being fun.

Eric Wilkinson

Ben-iversal Exports

Kevin Meiners

How do you move, are you tired, do you need a glass of water? 🤣

Michelle Lehner

“7up feels earthier”?

j0hnb0t

There is a live-action adaptation of Wacky Races, but it’s a car commercial. Still pretty fun: https://youtu.be/A2apYrKvgLw
