For the Kunos 250 GTO.
Not many GTO's made it as far as 1966's WSC season, as the car already turned 4 years old in a series where innovations came by faster than you can say it.
GTO #3223GT started out its racing career in silver/white colours for the Scuderia Bear team in 1962, upon its debut at the Bridgehampton 400km race, where it finished 3rd overall. Not long after the car won its class at the Bahamas Speed Week. 1963 was a less successful season as the car briefly changed hands to NART, a name you all should know by now!
Scuderia Bear and Charlie Hayes would run the car for another season, now painted in red, before being sold to Jack Slottag. Slottag teamed up with Larry Perkins to take on the Daytona 24 Hours in 1966, surprisingly winning their class in the now classic race car. Spurred on by this success the pair entered at Sebring a few months later, only to crash out at the hairpin 61 laps in, badly damaging the front end of the car.
