The Austrian semi works Porsche team had a great season in 1969, taking delivery of two 908's for that season and later switching to the 917K. The debut of the 908 spyders came at the Nürburgring 1000km in 1969, where an Austrian team car took the first outright win for the car in the hands of Jo "Seppi" Siffert and Brian Redman.
The next WSC race that featured these spyders was the Watkins Glen 6 Hours. Here, the same two drivers who won the Nürburgring 1000km race also took the checkered flag here.
