I've come to appreciate the lack of kisses / heat in Japanese BLs. Even without them, they manage to capture the emotional connection between the main characters. The symbolism of a simple hand hold can convey love as much as a kiss (even moreso if the actors are uncomfortable kissing). I do think that having the comic convention as a framing narrative was a good choice. It anchors the show over a longer timeframe, and we can see the character growth from one convention to the next. The snippets of their lives and emotions show us their motives, but it will always return to the convention, and how Momocchi's idea of self is reflected in his relationship with the Con.

2022-11-23 00:07:38 +0000 UTCThe finale is astonishingly good. I did not expected that at all. The series is very good but I am feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Like we loose so many potential... or as if something is missing (and I did not think about a kiss, I know Japan, we better not expecting one to not be disappointed).
