2022-02-08 12:38:15 +0000 UTChe didn't say "love" but he did more or less say "soulmate". the word he uses has no english translation but soulmate is close enough for me. better than "confidante" or especially "bosom chum" which i have also seen thrown out as translations... a while back, old man lan said he didn't want wangji to repeat his father's mistake. Xichen reveals in his totally-not-a-shovel-talk that said "mistake" was falling in love with someone rebellious who sullied his reputation. I really do wonder how this show made it to air sometimes...
