So about the eagle, its long been discussed among the fandom, and most agree that atleast prior to the attack on Komugi the eagle was being manipulated by netero as a scout, and signs of this are teased in prior episodes when the eagle is shown flying to Netero and flashes of nen in its eyes, as well as Netero always having information that we arent privy to knowing how he got it. Its obvious in hindsight, good hunters work well with animals, so what would the top strongest bestest hunter of all time be like? Duh. Where people disagree is why did it attack Komugi at this moment. Was it because meruem released his ren while pondering hostile intent, leading to the aura influencing the eagle to attack her? Or, was it Netero in real time deciding to test meruem or something of this sort? According to Shalnarks battle we are told first come first serve but we dont know the details here. We will never know for sure unless Togashi comments on it. Since you are up to 122 i can also mention the rather obvious callback to this moment, when Netero offers Meruem his name, which would otherwise be the most random moment in all of anime, but with this scene makes 100% sense. Netero was listening in on the conversation and already knew Meruem was asking his gaurds for his name, and the scene even zooms on the eagle just after asking his gaurds for his name, thus netero knew he had this leverage and thats why he smirks in 122 like " i got you " because he already knows he wants his name and no one knows it as far as Meruem knows other than netero at this moment.

The answer each guard gives to the King's question reveals a lot about their relationship to him at the moment. Pouf has always seemed like the mother of the group; overbearing, wants the best for their child but can be blind to what they might want, thinks he knows whats best for Meruem and tries to steer him in a way he thinks is right. Pitou is more like a big sister; still cares a lot, but doesn't try to decide for him, just wants Meruem to be happy. Whatever that means to him, she'll help him get it. While Youpi is just there to do what the king says when he says it, anything else is above his paygrade, he's a loyal dog through and through, he's definitely the least characterized guard so far.
