As Head of the Aberrant Corps, Aera was both a Level 10 Captain and unanimously elected Head by all other Captains-- so she wasn't just powerful, but overwhelmingly popular. Her death on Seju Island shook the Aberrant Corps, and put the whole organization on a downwards trajectory.
When Sayeon joins the Corps over a decade later, Aera's seat is still empty, and the officer mortality rate has never been higher. Who will succeed Aera? There are several candidates...
In life, Aera was a pretty cheerful person. Cheerful and overworked.
