For a long time, I was too embarrassed to look back on the Canvas version of Hand Jumper. If you don't know what I'm talking about: before Webtoon began paying me to create Hand Jumper, I published it for free on Webtoon Canvas, a part of the platform that allows anyone to upload their comic.
I drew the first pages of Hand Jumper when I was 17, the summer before I became a senior in high school. In the current day, I'm about to start my last year of college. Enough time has passed between now and then that Canvas Hand Jumper feels like it was drawn by a familiar stranger. The differences between Chapter 1 of Canvas and Chapter 1 of Originals, shown here, are kind of interesting: the content is mostly the same, but the perspectives have been switched in every scene. That wasn't intentional!
All in all, I was surprised by how similar the Canvas and Originals versions are-- the art has evolved, but the characters and writing remain mostly unchanged. Speaking of the art... there's Canvas Instructor Sang and Iseul for you! Kill it with fire!
