[SCRIPT BOOK] One of Seventy Two

Doubling back to finish up some more projects that went untouched for quite a while, here is the complete version of the One of Seventy Two booklet that was released to celebrate the DOME-G showing of the mini film, part of which we saw in Gundam NT.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This is a 3DCG video work that was screened starting August 3, 2013, in the dome-shaped video facility DOME-G within Gundam Front Tokyo. This visual feast coincided with the release of an exclusive model kit - the HGUC Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex (Destroy Mode) (Ver.GFT). Lucky collectors found within this kit a treasured booklet containing both the preparatory and final scripts penned by the visionary Harutoshi Fukui himself.

The story transports us to December 3, U.C. 0095, where the Federation Forces and Anaheim Electronics engage in a high-stakes showdown, pitting Unicorn Gundams against each other in a battle of technological supremacy. On one side stands the Federation's Unit 3 Phenex, a machine born from the ambition of a staff officer wary of the Vist Foundation's growing influence in the UC Project. Opposing it is Anaheim's Unit 2 Banshee, the brainchild of the formidable Martha Vist Carbine.

As these mechanical titans clash with a team of mobile suits led by a Rebawoo, the scoreboard remains locked in a tense stalemate. With the prestige of the army hanging in the balance, the Federation officer makes a fateful decision, unleashing the full potential of the Phenex. Transformed into its Destroy Mode, the golden beast tears through friend and foe alike, culminating in the destruction of the bridge of the mothership Irish-class battleship before flying away.

The supplementary novel Phoenix Hunt expands this story, unveiling the identities behind the chess pieces: Rita Bernal as the Phenex's pilot, the ill-fated Eschalot as the mothership, and the strategic mind of Vice Admiral Larson as one of the Federation staff officers. Parts of this were animated as recorded footage in the theatrical anime Mobile Suit Gundam NT, which is based on Phoenix Hunt. The subsequent comic adaptation took creative liberties, most notably by omitting the Rebawoo, while bringing the full scope of the conflict to vibrant, illustrated life.

Phenex, the nickname of Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 which symbolizes this work, is the name of a demon from the 72 Pillars of Solomon and is also the origin of the work's subtitle.
