And with this, the trilogy is complete.
Again, thank you, everyone, for your unwavering support throughout this trilogy. It has been a challenge to convey the "Tomino-ness" of everything. As I wrap some things up, here's what promotion for the novel back in the September 1988 issue of Newtype had to say about things (which solves the mystery of where the "it can't be animated" claim came from):
"In this novel, we can expect to encounter abundant usage of expressions that encapsulate the essence of Gundam, which is unsuited for easy adaptation to visual formats. While, of course, there will be the inclusion of mobile suits and the cumulative battle scenes synonymous with Gundam, but beyond that, Yoshiyuki Tomino, known for his work in portraying the characters' inner worlds, should be striving to create a piece that delves into these aspects. The concept of Newtypes, which is exceedingly challenging to depict in visual form, will likely find its emblematic representation in a work such as Hathaway's Flash. Simultaneously, this narrative is poised to conclude the era of Amuro and Char, the Newtype discourse from their generation, and become a work of great scale and conviction."
If you find anything weird with spellings in this version, please let me know! I have a bad habit of working on this at work when I didn't have my master list of names handy (really need to use Google Docs more).
