The History of Magic on Earth
Added 2022-11-25 23:54:23 +0000 UTCMagic was initially not intrinsic to Earth. It came, many millennia ago, when the first Elves traveled to Earth from their own home world, bringing magic to the planets inhabitants as a gift of good faith.
Now, it’s worth noting. Magic is one of the single forces that Atenkiji are incapable of using. As Ōra is a force that draws from within the Universe itself - magic is a power that draws from dimensions outside of the Universe. All magic, regardless of its type, draws its energy in from alternate dimensions, which teem with endless magical energy. How does this happen?
When the Elves arrived, they came with a piece of their home world in tow. A sapling, from what they simply called ”The Great Tree”. It was said this tree was how the Elves came to learn of magic, and how to harness its power. The Great Tree and it’s many branches reached out and tethered to many other dimensions, full of magical power. The tree rooted itself into the planet, and caused it to flourish with magical energies from all across the dimensional spectrum. They planted the sapling somewhere on Earth, and sprouted a new Great Tree, which tethered their world to the realms of magic as well.
Elves taught a handful of chosen individuals in the ways of the ”Old Magic”, and tasked them with guarding the tree. Given it’s nature, the tree and it’s safety are of the utmost importance. Were the tree to fall, all magic on Earth would dissipate, and become completely unusable to any who have not figured out how to directly tether themselves to a dimension of magic. To the modern day, nobody knows the true location of the tree, as it was hidden by incredibly powerful magic, long ago.
In the modern age, most Monsters are able to wield and use magic which gives them the ability to contend with the Atenkiji should the need arise, however, Humans lost their ability to cast magic after the Great War, as per the treaty and its accords.
