A Long Overdue Update!
Added 2022-11-24 05:24:02 +0000 UTCThis is a long overdue update to Patreon. I apologize for leaving this so long. I have not been ignoring you guys, I promise. I decided to focus on catching up to where I should have been mid-summer instead of anything else. Steady communication is pretty hard for me when I’m neck-deep in the weeds of writing, but it’s something I am working on improving.
If you have any awesome reader friends curious about what's going on, feel free to link them to this post! I'm going to make this visible to all so anybody looking for info only has to go to one place.
Those of you who frequent the Discord already know some of the issues I’ve faced this year. Moving across the country, getting put into the hospital for months at a time, cover artist issues, computer breaking, and general life shenanigans.
For those of you not in the Discord, I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice to say that all the plans I had this year were set back many months.
I never meant to take so long to get back to things, but it was out of my control and it’s been a long road of recovery for me. While my hospitalization threw a major wrench into my plans, it did not stop them.
I’m still writing just about every single day, and I’m still working on a great many projects that I hope to be able to share with you very soon.
To kick things off, let’s talk about Beastborne!
Will there be new chapters coming to Patreon? Yes! While I can’t guarantee exactly when, I hope to have new chapters for you guys by the end of the year. Since that’s not too far away, hopefully the wait won’t be too bad.
In addition, I’ll be putting up the fourth book, Beastborne: Crucible, on preorder shortly. I’ll be aiming for a December preorder, with a release in January.
You’ll find the very first preview of Beastborne’s newest cover on a follow-up post so you incredible patrons can peep to your heart’s content!
Now, about the future of Patreon and in general my progress:
First of all, the way billing is done will be more in-line with what you generally expect from other subs (Twitch, MMOs, Netflix, etc.).
This only works for new patrons, but instead of being billed at the first of every month (even if you subbed a day before the end of the month), you’ll instead be billed the next month on the same date.
Quick example for anybody who might want it:
OLD WAY: if you were to sub today (November 23), you would have been billed on the 23rd, and again on the first of December.
NEW WAY: you’ll be billed on November 23rd, and again on December 23rd. That has always annoyed me, but it hasn’t been an option to switch until recently.
I’ve previously stated that I’m going to be moving away from the weekly serialized format. Instead, I’ll give meatier updates with more substance to them. They won’t be as frequent or consistent, but they will certainly be quite a lot longer while helping me to focus on one book at a time until it’s completed.
I will also be releasing at least one new series in 2023 along these updates. I’m wary of saying too much before it’s ready to be published, but I’m very proud of the work and I think you will be too.
With any luck (fingers crossed for no disasters in ’23!) I hope to be able to share several new stories with you this upcoming year.
I’m working on getting a new site up and running where I’ll give continual updates on the blog as well as post progress on the various books in each series that I’m working on so you can see how far along I am.
Hopefully, you’ll enjoy seeing the progress bars go up as much as I will!
Feel free to ask any questions below and I’ll do my best to answer them ASAP. Thanks for everything!
