Surrender Example (AKA War Crimes)

Hey,

To start off the miniseries have a look at the surrender concept I cooked up, should something like this be in the game?

I will pursue it further if most of you guys like it

I guess it has been expanded on already in the projects current state, with the ai behaviours featuring them interacting, searching etc. I like your idea for non-combat imperials, like the Jedi Outcast workers. Armed with a pistol but WILL actually give up or maybe attack only at opportune moments. Basically like I have said in my previous video, I want it to be immersive. Everyone's input will be taken onboard and ideas discussed to give the best experience possible.

It comes down to: Do you want just to remake the original or expand it? If you want to remake it there is no room for it. The Empire is evil and all it‘s soldiers fight to the death which is also more or less what is shown in the movies. It is an interesting idea for surprised, wounded or disarmed imperial units. But adding something cool like unarmed imperial personnel for more atmosphere and maybe even a moral mechanic (freedom fighter or terrorist?) to react onto what the player is doing would make it necesary to hugely expand the original game. I would at first try to stay true to a remake and decide later on what features to add to avoid a feature creep cluttering the schedule. This is also true in my opinion to what the empire does in the first mission while the player is undetected. Stealth isn‘t a huge aspect on the original game and the levels and equipment don‘t support such a gameplay.

Well for this it would only be implemented on maybe one officer in the entire level to make so it’s not too gimmicky. If too many friendly imperials die around him it will allow him to go into the surrender state. I guess it just adds life to the ai even more.

It might be neat to make them like the Lightning Guards in Rise of the Triad, where they'd beg for a bit or pretend to die, when pull a little pistol on you when you weren't looking.

I like the idea but it would be best as a part of a larger mechanic. Like, could I doaa melee to knock them out, or cuff them in Dredd vs Death? And what would I gain from doing it, especially on missions where you blow up the whole place?
