Vatlings are wretched creatures that were created by a long-forgotten race, the whole of their species comprised of experiments gone horribly wrong. In ancient times, the vatlings were formed by a mysterious and advanced civilization, their purpose largely unknown, but many believe they were meant to serve as the next step in advancement for dreadspines, perhaps creating ever more biologically advanced vessels, or serving as building materials for these ships. Whatever their original purpose, the vatling experiment went very, very wrong. Vatlings are believed to have developed abilities beyond what their creators believed they would be capable of, telepathic and psychic evolutions that allowed them to control and overthrow their creators, taking charge of the dreadspines flying throughout the cosmos one by one.
