If you go all the way back to starrcade 83, pretty much every wrestler bladed before the main event with no mat change. It was a spectacle heh

- Kyle re-signed this year. But him going to WWF just to lose to Seff Freakin on Night 3 of WrestlePooloza in Saudi in a Mountain Dew Code Red Extravaganza 3 way really sounds like a dream. All jokes aside he's not gonna leave for less money when his fiance is in AEW, his best friends are in AEW, and the company has invested in him more than they've invested in basically any other dude in their history. The luster of a "Wrestlemania moment" doesn't exist for a lot of these younger guys. Which is good, the more guys who don't see the WWF as some be all end all the healthier the industry will be. - Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher teamed together as Aussie Open. They were a prominent fixture in the British Independent scene for years, Progress and Rev Pro specifically. They had a match with FTR that got NJPW's attention who started booking them soon after. They quickly joined Ospreays United Empire faction and the rest is history. Funnily enough Mark Davis was originally seen as the singles star of the 2, having big matches with Walter in Progress as well as the more significant singles matches in new japan including a great match vs Ospreay. Fletcher was just seen as the tall skinny moves guy. Then Davis got injured early into their proper AEW run, forcing Fletcher to become a singles guy where he quickly flourished, and moved us down the path we are now. - Ospreay has always been a bit of a nearfall/kickout merchant, even going back to his Progress days. It's still not as egregious as a lot of the WWF stuff where Gargano kicks out of 40 finishers or Seff kicks out of 6 GTS's, or Cody needs to hit 12 Cross Rhodes on Reigns or Lesnar to beat them, or Cody kicking out of the most protected move ever at one, or peak super indy Cena, or Reigns and Lesnar matches being nothing but finisher spam, or Rock/Cena being nothing but finisher spam, but yeah Ospreay definitely relies on near falls a bit too much all things considered, hopefully when he comes back next year he can tone it down a bit.

Pretty sure Kyle re-signed this year
